Big Blitz Posted April 3, 2023 Author Posted April 3, 2023 Gas up to 3.60 in Northern Virginia. National up 30 cents in the last 60 days. Memorial Day will be the excuse it’s back up over $4. Oh I just paid $10 at a local fast food spot for a “value meal” that used to cost 5.99. Minimum wage of course is now $12 here. But “Indict Trump Summer” to distract from you from not being able to afford anything, the continued Covid fallout, and in reality they actually want him to be the nominee and hope this gets him there. 1

B-Man Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 Just gonna get worse... Saudi Arabia’s Oil Production Cuts Reflect Cost of Reshaping Economy An oil production cut by Saudi Arabia and its allies demonstrated how Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is willing to set aside U.S. concerns to pursue a nationalist energy policy aimed at funding an expensive makeover of his kingdom. This weekend’s move came as a surprise after Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman told industry analysts privately in February that the kingdom would tolerate oil prices slipping to around $65 or $70 a barrel, according to analysts and Saudi officials familiar with the matter. Brent crude, the international benchmark, was trending downward since late last year on global recession fears, nearing $70 a barrel last month. On Monday, oil prices were on track for their biggest jump in nearly a year, up 5.9% at $84.59 a barrel. </snip> Prince Mohammed told associates late last year that he was no longer interested in pleasing the U.S., saying he wants something in return for anything he gives Washington, according to people familiar with the conversation. https://archive.vn/t4oT9#selection-115.5-115.76 . 1 1
ALF Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Biden considering cracking down on gas cars after stripping EVs of tax credits The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is expected to announce the new standards, which will impact cars manufactured between 2027-2032, next week during a ceremony in Detroit, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing officials briefed on the proposal. In a statement, the EPA confirmed the standards are designed to incentivize consumers to purchase electric vehicles (EV). Overall, the average cost of an EV was $64,338 while the average cost of a compact gas-powered car was $26,101 as of last year, according to Kelley Blue Book Last year, meanwhile, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) unveiled new fuel economy standards that it said would boost fuel efficiency, but acknowledged it would cost automakers about $236.5 billion and eventually make cars $1,000 more expensive. The standards are projected to increase fuel efficiency 8% annually for model years 2024-2025 and 10% annually for model year 2026. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-considering-cracking-down-gas-cars-stripping-evs-tax-credits 2

Putting a new engine in one last year looks a good investment (and I really like the car). Going to have to do some investment research into auto parts manufacturers
