Cut Star, don't resign Mario or Hughes, and you've got Jones, Rousseau, Basham and Epenesa....I'd keep Obada too.

He'd put us in a new level on defense.....instead of leading the league in pressure, we'd lead the league in sacks too.  You can't double team everybody.

I'd try and keep Harry and Zimmer, and draft somebody like Jones or Perriman or the kid from Alabama to plug up the middle.

Our defense was extremely good without a sack master.  Having Jones lead the way, the others would also get more sacks.

Jones would also get a couple or more cracks at the Patriots, who dumped him a few years ago.  I'm pretty sure he'd like that.

If your Beane you don't his.  You have to do this.  The chiefs and rams always seem to pull a rabbit out of their hat.  Its time Big Baller Beane, it's time.

I would think a guy like Jones who is getting to the late part of his career would be interested in a defense that rotates a lot…he’d get a nice payday, along with the opportunity to extend his career more than he might otherwise. Who knows.

Could just be me, but when a guy says "it's not about money at all", I think it's a lot about money

Quote

"To be completely honest, it's not about money at all," Jones said. "Where I am in my career, I've gotten contracts, I've gotten the Super Bowl, but I think scheme is huge. Or for me, winning more championships. I'll say it again, it's not about money. I will say I want to go to a place that maximizes my talents. There have been times in my career where I'd say I caught myself out of position. I do take the blame, but at the same time it's like, 'Hey, should I have been doing that?' I have enough comfort where I am in my career and this age to say that.

"Where does Chandler Jones become Chandler Jones? Where can he maximize his talent? I think there were a few times you saw it this season, where you were like, who is this guy? Week 1, five sacks ... so you see flashes of it, and I'm pretty sure there were times where people said, 'Why did it disappear, where is it going?' Not to put it on just the game plan -- I'm sure there were a lot of different things that goes into it. But again, going into free agency, what team maximizes Chandler Jones' talents?"

Hmmm

Jones is really the marquee name out there on the pass rush market and still think he'll go to the highest bidder (among contenders).

So if the Bills do miss out better hope he doesn't end up on another AFC contender like Den or KC.

I wonder if McDermott would change his tune on using a rotation if we were to sign an elite end like Jones. I already hate the rotation.... if we signed Jones and I watched McDermott sub him out for AJ 50% of the snaps I'd be furious.

"Jones would certainly slot in at starting defensive end opposite Greg Rousseau, but he’s consistently played more than 84% of his team’s snaps on defense. In Buffalo, he would get more of a breather than that, as the Bills love to rotate. Jerry Hughes led all defensive ends on the Bills at just under 52% of the snaps a year ago."

I think he would adjust. McD didn't use as much of a rotation in Carolina when he had guys like Greg Hardy.

Would love to have Jones in a Bill uniform for next year and maye be 1 or 2 after that.  I didn't know he was from the WNY area.  Would also love to see Calais Campbell, but he's 35, so I'd only want him on a 1 year deal.

Once we drafted Rousseau i figured Campbell would end up here in '22. Not so sure about that anymore

So if I got this right, there are about 8-12 teams interested in Jones. And it's not about the money because it's going to probably be somewhere around 3 years $45mil no matter where he goes.

I almost forgot the Bills might be one of the teams interested.

I guess the only thing left is...what number do you think he'll wear?

To me it reads like he wants to maximize his chances of getting a lot of sacks. Tbh not sure Buffalo would be the best fit that way.

3-45 is fine as long as the gtd money is 30M or less.

This would completely make the offseason for me.

If we got someone like Jones, everyone else is instantly better - Oliver, Rousseau, Epenesa.  He's still playing at a high level, and would command attention.
