What I like about Lawson is that he is physical enough that he WILL get to the QB.  It may take a second longer but he'll shove the tackle back into the QB.  All these speed rush guys like Hughes and Addison who either swipe at the QB or run completely past him and out of the play.  Lawson will collapse the pocket.  So maybe the QB will have a second but he will not have 3 plus seconds like they did all year this year.  It's one thing to not get there in a hurry and another when you can't get there at all and there were points where we couldn't get there at all.  He's not going to fix the interior, hopefully Oliver and Phillips are both there and lock that down.  He's not a premier pass rusher like Bosa  but he's solid.  Hopefully Rousseau takes a nice step forward this year and starts slapping around some tackles.

I still would like this signing, Lawson was loved in the locker room and is only 28. Our DE depth would be 2 first round picks backed up by 2 second round picks.

Since he barely played last year, the not likely to be earned incentives could come in handy.  Could probably get him for close to vet minimum.

Would love having him back for the right price. Very good run stopping DE with a good motor who can get to the QB if the coverage holds up.

If nothing else, he was a very disciplined DE who set the edge well -- and could be a nice mentor in those regards to our young DEs who struggled in that capacity last year.

 

Would still like to acquire a genuine pass rusher though.

This is where I'm at. Aim higher with guys like Jones, etc but if those fall through then I'll take Shaq back on a 1 year deal worth near the vet min.

Just a “meh” from this corner … as a DE, if he had much to offer, he wouldn’t be available and having to market his services.

If they sign Lawson, Bills let Hughes walk, unless he comes back on a hometown discount. We need a big splash signing at DE. Our depth is definitely lacking.
