I agree Murphy who I said from the beginning was trash by far the worse,  I got killed by some on this site for saying Murphy was a bust signing and he was.

He had a great beard and a great press conference. The board loved it and forgot he was a PED cheat coming off knee surgery. Terrible contract and even a worse decision than the guy that quit at halftime.

This was one of the many no-brainer moves we could make to free up cap space. Others being extending Diggs, extending Edmunds, releasing or re-working deals on Beasley, Feliciano, Morse, D. Williams, and Butler. This is not a huge loss. You can easily replace what Klein brought us with a draft pick or a cheaper option.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I think the players that we'll have going out aren't going to make us substantially worse off than we were last year. On the contrary, with good drafting and smart moves in the FA and Trade market - I can easily see us being better off.

Agreed that it had to be done.

I don't wholeheartedly disagree with your second point, but I do disagree, if for no other reason than we are going to lose more guys, experienced with our system, than we are going to get through the door.

This isn't a one for one, every time.  Even getting rid of Klein, a player who was a reasonably dependable asset, we are still not under the cap, and we still have to replace him.  We also know it is pretty darn likely we are not replacing him for another 5 million dollar LB, especially when we have other holes and and we have to resign some other assets for good money.  We are likely going to lose Cole, but maybe we keep Isiah who may cost what we were paying Cole.  This year we had both of them, two assets, but in 2022 we will have just one and not much additional cap space from it, if any.

I did tell everyone this was inevitable.

Yes, it's not surprising at all.

I'm glad we never traded him for that bag of donuts.

When? guarantee no one signs anywhere near that type of money because he is mediocre and you don't pay mediocre players that type of dough

Tremaine would disagree...

Would have preferred to see Klein stay with a big pay cut but maybe he wasn't interested in doing that.

This probably also means that everyone's favorite whipping boy is now 100% locked in to returning.

Does anyone know the cap savings if we cut Matakevich? I don't think we will, but I'm curious.

$2.5M would come off the books, but another player would roll up into the top 51 for $700k.  Net savings would be $1.8M.  As such I don’t think he’s a definite cut.

I appreciate it, thank you. McD seems to like having a couple cornerstone ST players on the team, so I don't think he'll be cut for that reason. Was just curious :)

Played decent in spots. But my lasting memory of him as a Bill will be seeing him 12 yards away from the play as Jonathan Taylor rips off another 15 yard run. Good lord that game was abysmal.

I like AJ but it’s a good move.

I liked AJ once Frazier played him to his strengths.. I for one would have liked him to have remained a Bill.

Dodson is his replacement. The Bills have to rely on young players stepping up for some of the veterans they can no longer afford. That's how it works in the first couple years of a QB's new mega-deal.

Nice. Now bring in some weapons for Josh with that money and more likely to come.

Now they're just about even. More ,cuts, trades or restructures to come
