Cousins is elite at making money in his career. Guy has banked $161 million already for being totally mediocre.

Hey, good for him. It's a business, as we're often told.

He is right up there with Sam Bradford who made like 130mill over 8-9 seasons somehow.

Bradford made 1.25 million per TD while playing in the league.

For sure! These guys have to make it while they can

Sure thing. Cousins definitely to cash in this time, since he's only earned $160 MILLION so far!

This should spark a great conversation.  Stafford, who never won anything before this year vs Cousins who hasn't won anything and many believe is a 1st/2nd round playoff QB at best.

But the reality of it is, there are plenty of teams out there that would pay them 40 mil and not blink.  Imagine Cousins on the 49ers?  They are possibly in the Super Bowl with him.

We knew Josh would be a bargain sooner rather than later

Yeah, but think about inflation.  He's got to be able to feed his wife and kids

Baker will be lucky if he gets 20. Lamar can make somewhat of an argument because he won MVP his second year.

Yes but RBs only last so long even if they play QB.

He probably could make that make that much doing a tell all book on Washington's Football Team.

This is going to be unsustainable.  With a cap of 200 million how can you justify a 1/5 to a 1/4 of team just to one player, let alone if the person gets injured

and yet the league is still thriving

The QB contract inflation continues...

Here's a blurb about Stafford that mentions Cousins;

Here's a link to an article about the Cousin's negotiations;

It is expected to be a 3-4 year deal for Stafford.  Makes Josh's 6 year extension at an average of  $42 million a year look better every day.  I think this is going to be a recurring theme as more and more QBs take their turn at the NFL QB money trough.

We basically robbed Josh blind.  We got the best QB in the NFL for cheap.

How depressed I would be if Cousins was the Bills QB and being paid $40M.

There were a lot of people on TSW who were all about Kirk Cousins in 2016-2017.

Let's not get carried away here..........it's not like they locked him up at that figure for a decade like KC did with Mahomes..........that gives KC a lot more flexibility to make adjustments to his deal to create cap room.

When they have to........have to........re-visit Allen's deal in the next few years time the new market will be $60M+ and then the years they add on will either have to be at those aav's or Allen will have to take a discount.     We should hope that he turns into the greatest product shill ever in the meantime so he might be inclined to take a bit less.

He has made a TON of money. Good for him.

But he is definately not mediocre. He has top 10 stats. He isn't elite because he doesn't have that clutch gene or the ability to put the team on his back in key situations, but he throws for a lot of yards and TD's and he is an efficient passer.

People have been saying that ever since QB's were making $10 million a year.

Wasn't true then and it isn't true now.

Look, I don't think Cousins deserves 15 mil/yr, however, this guys is great at getting paid and you can't fault him. The teams that pays him are at fault. Mediocrity at its best.

Yea...what's wrong with this picture?

Well, big payday might equal better videos? 🤔

In other news, Aaron Rodgers has just announced plans to self fund his own space program from proceeds of his next NFL contract.

If he plays that long he is going to walk out of this career at 40 with just under a half billion dollars ($487 million...262 by the end of 2022 and another 225 if he signs a 5 year, 45 million dollar per deal).

Wow.

Cousins in the 40s.......lmao.

Let's just hope the team stupid enough to do it is in the AFC.  They'll instantly become a non threat for the duration he's on their team.

Isn't it interesting that the guys that paid him big money are no longer in their jobs.  Bad cap management leads to a bad roster, a bad win/loss record, and a change in the front office.  Good teams seem to know when to let guys walk and when to pay.  Like most of the comments on this board, the Allen contract looks pretty good at this point in time.  Beane continues to make more good decisions than bad ones.
