No, and any buddy who lies to you is not a buddy. You don't release a 1st team all-pro on a reasonable contract.

The only way it would make sense is if Hyde wanted to be released and requested it (and the Bills did him a solid by not trading him instead). Or if there were some personal issues that nobody has heard about. I really doubt it.

Not going to disagree.  Maybe "unfortunate" was the wrong choice of words.  Money does makes people (not just athletes) make interesting life decisions - not always for their own betterment.

I would be surprised but the Bills will have to make a tough decision there very soon. Hyde will be 32 next year.

No chance on this. That would signal a revolt. Easily one of the 4 best players on the top ranked D last year. It would be horrible

Nothing triggers me more than people referring to Buffalo as “the top ranked defense” but I agree… Moving off Hyde would be quite the head scratcher.

I think if you read that properly, it says top ranked not top defense. You can’t argue with the statistics. What you also can’t argue is the result of the last playoff game they played which showed they were not the top defense in the league.

Oh, I get it.  It’s still a metric I never want to be reminded of in regards to last years Bills Defense.

It was a good, not great defense last year that now has glaring holes at CB and DT.  Even if Phillips stays, they need reinforcements at DT and CB is a barren wasteland at the moment that requires a FA and a high draft pick to ensure that they are covered if White isn’t ready at the beginning of the season.

No, but Carlos Hyde got released by Jax.

Wow! That would be a complete surprise. He seems all in to me.  Draft a replacement and give him 2 years to develop. Hyde is still earning his contract.
