Why do people think this is what will happen?… For one, the Rams have been a perennial playoff team and just won the SB, including 2 SB appearances in the last 4 years…. And secondly, we have Josh Allen… I don’t think most fans who want the Bills to be more aggressive are suggesting trading away their whole draft, but if there’s an elite playmaker available via trade at a high cost it makes sense to part ways with some picks to make the trade and get this team over the top.

Trade away your #1 picks for the next 3 to 4 years and be over the cap for the same time period and watch what happens.  Josh Allen or not, that's not a recipe for long term NFL success.  The rams are going to be a hot mess after this coming season and that's only kicking the can down the road IF players want to run it back and take one year deals for less money.

Somehow sign Clowney and Hicks and still manage to bring back Wallace.  White comes back healthy and now we can cover and terrorize QB's and go 17 and 0 and cruze to a SB victory.  If only it was that easy.

I’m all for the releasing, restructuring and extending.  Bates is a no brainer, Harrison Phillips too.  I’m not bringing back Hughes, but I am Addison, he has a 2 million dollar cap hit, so just roll that into part of his salary of 3 million.  I’m offering McKenzie 2.5 million.  If he takes it, great, if not, oh well.
Ike and Zimmer, min deals, could be helpful in December when recovered enough.
I’m not bring Wallace back, I’m pulling off that bandaid.  I am cutting Klein, Star (after June 1st) Beas, mongo, Williams & extending Edmunds to lower cap hit this year. Still holding onto hope Ford reaches potential, so I’m keeping him as part of the 90.
But if we are really talking all in..

extending White, Dion, Poyer and Diggs. This could add easily another 20 million

1-signing Berrios, because I cut Cole.  He takes over the slot and returning duties.  Better YAC, using Miami connection of our new OC. Replaces McKenzie and Cole with him

2-James Daniel-RG from the Bears, could play center too.  Played at Iowa. Will be starting at RG.

3-TE OJ Howard, would make a great #2  on a prove it deal.  His injury history and Buffalo’s ability to keep players healthy makes a good match.

4-Donte Jackson CB- injured much of last year, played at DBU and can run..

5-Sony Michel, for selfish reasons.  Gives us a vet to “challenge” Moss

6-James Washington, WR seems to get open deep fairly easy and is strong with the ball.

7-Thomas Morstead, experienced Punter that shouldn’t break the bank.

8-Fitz, obviously

1st round-look to trade down.  We’ve spent some money and we need cheaper talent.

let’s say someone with a early 2nd wants to move ahead of the Bucs, Detroit and packers to get a QB…well, we could pick up an extra 3rd. Or best yet 2 2nds

25th to the falcons for 43 and 57…giving us…

43, 57, 58, 89, 129, 168, 184, 202, 229, 244.

43-CB, Kyler Gordon great athlete, if not him there will be other

57-DT, Jones, big strong 1 tech to back up Phillips

58-LB Troy Anderson, acts as Klein’s replacement.  Could also see time as a offensive utility player.

89-RB, Rachaad White 6’ 210, good vision, speed and good hands to catch the ball out of the backfield or as a receiver.

129-G Lecitus Smith good size and athletic, Bills had their eye on him, I’ve seen him drafted between 2nd and 5th round.

168-G/T/C Cade Mays-Has experience in different schemes and could play anywhere on the Olne, okay maybe not LT.  good fit for the new line coach.

202- WR Kyle Phillips UCLA, 5’11” 190 had a good Shrine week.

229-CB/S Kyler McMichael good size and could be moved to Safety 6’ 205 PS most likely.

244-Noah Elliss-NT, another interior DL this one is 6’4” 360+ most likely to be on practice squad.

after Draft

2023 2nd and 4th for Mack, I know everyone wants Jones, but I’ve been a Mack fan.

Mack, Oliver, Phillips and Groot, with Addison, Boogie, Jones, AJ…and others at DL

Edmunds, Milano, Anderson, Dobson,  Giles-Harris and Smith at LB

White, Jackson, Jackson, Johnson  Gordon, Lewis and Neal (resigned for ST)

Poyer, Hyde, Hamlin, Johnson & McMicheal at safety

Bass, Morstead and Ferguson as specialists

Allen and Fitz

Singletary, Michel, moss and White

Knox, the new OJ and Gillian TE/FB

Diggs, Gabe Davis, Berrios, Washington, Kyle Phillips, Stevenson and maybe McKenzie (if resigned)

Dion, Bates, Morse, Daniels and Brown

w/ Doyle, Ford, Smith and Mays (Ike later)…I might see Smith move to starting LG, I’m really hoping Bates isn’t the new Colin Brown.

the rest of the 90 gets filled out with udfa’s and players looking for any opportunity.

Unlike the Rams, our window is a decade long. I think this team's success is sustainable and I wouldn't mortgage our future by dealing picks unless it's for a young player that we extend for a long-term deal.

Von Miller played well for the Rams down the stretch, but trading a 2nd and 3rd round pick for half a season of play will hurt them in the long-term.

I think we are more likely to trade away players for picks as draft day approaches (Edmunds, Morse, Beasley, Ford)

I couldn’t disagree more honestly.  Windows don’t stay open like that.  You are a threat for a long time, but having players in their prime only lasts so long.  Plus Allen’s deal kicks in next year, meaning you are forever pinched on cap space.  I thought they should have gone more hardcore for it last offseason, but they left holes and they paid for it eventually.  Depth in the secondary must be addressed.  LBs who actually do their job must be acquired.  A running back should have been brought in.  They went all cute and thrifty and got bounced.   You are getting so close to dealing with the pinch of JAs deal, Oliver is coming up, Edmonds is making more than he’s worth and now you have 2 LBs making more than 3 should cost for their production level, you still have zero impact DEs, an aging secondary and no speed at corner.  That window is shaky.

If you are talking about a window of being competitive with a franchise QB than you are probably right.

But this team's (current) SB window is pretty much these next few years. Same deal as the Chiefs despite some of their fanbase's delusional beliefs but also why they are gearing up to go all in this year as well.

It's truly an arms race this offseason between the Chiefs and Bills (You can probably add the Bengals, Pats and Ravens to the mix as well) and hopefully the Pegula's have already set the expectation that in year six there is no more 'process'. It's now about delivering a championship or time to move on.

But they don’t have to even make that decision this year.  DK makes peanuts next season, they are under no cap pressure to get rid of him and yet he’s easily one of their 3 best players.

Well when would they have to make such a decision?

Remember.........Metcalf was NOT a first round pick........this is his walk year..........there is no 5th year option.

So they either have to extend DK Metcalf in the next 12 months or slap a $23M-$24M franchise tag on him..............when they just signed their #1 receiver to a 4 year $69M deal.

The speculation is based in most part on the idea that the team might not want to have $35M-$42M per year tied up in their top 2 WR's.

Definitely interesting plan.......thanks for sharing.

1 - I don't think Metcalf brings 2 first rounders in return from anyone.   The Bills 1st might be right on the nose for his trade value.   All it takes is one team........but it's another strong WR draft on the heels of several very good ones........WR isn't a desperate need around the league and he only has one season of team control left..........and no 5th year option for an acquiring team to leverage to make a deal.

3- I wouldn't pay Calais Campbell that much.........he'd be a nice addition but he is not a playmaker anymore.........more of a run defense addition.

put another way: if trading two firsts and giving a big contract, I think we could move the needle further than DK would by himself.

he’s a great player but our offense with much lesser talents was pretty elite.

A trade for a good corner and good pass rusher plus signing Kirk would likely do more  with the “DK, Calais Campbell and Jackson” resources (2 firsts and practically 40m)

The Bills are definitely in an arms race with KC and Cinci in terms of passing game weapons............and they are losing that race..........but I can't see using TWO firsts on any WR.

agreed. And agreed that’s not the market for him.

Heck, you might be able to snag DE hunter, and WR Ridley for less than two 1sts if just shoving chips on the table for a fast run.
