Another Carolina connection, but this time from the collegiate level. Just. Can’t. Stay. Away.

I mean the actual D-line coach came from Carolina. 🤷‍♂️

As long as they are defensive line COACHES and no defensive line players, I don’t kind the Carolina connection!

I mean, if you can’t get production out of two 1st round picks and a 2nd round pick at DE, I don’t know what to tell you. Fans are predicting that we take yet another EDGE.

Seems to me like Buffalo has had a hard time developing their front seven talent, outside of Milano and Oliver perhaps.

Whose fault is it? McD? Frazier? Washington? How is this “Cesaire” guy getting a new gig?

I would give the rookies some time to develop before deciding. They were rotated in and out this year. I do think they need another pass rusher simply because the only ones under contract are Rousseau, Epenesa, basham. Not sure if another rookie is the way to go though. Proven vet if at all possible.

Considering Beane and McDermott came from Carolina, I'd say that connection has turned out pretty well for this team...

Maybe it's because of the rotating players.  Ed Oliver played 58% of the snaps.  I think that led the team.  I know it's thought that keeping them fresh for the 4th quarter is smart, but maybe playing the best players at least 75% of the snaps might be a good idea.

How many sacks would Bruce Smith have gotten if he only played 58% of the snaps?

Just for accuracy it is two second round picks and one first. One of the issues the Bills have is that they have no edge guys in their prime (except Efe Obada who I love as a guy and a story but he is a JAG). They had three young guys and two ageing vets at the end of their career.

As for fault.... I mean Beane is a possibility as well. There were plenty of questions about all 3 coming out.

EDIT: West feels like an up and coming young coach though. He served as pass rush specialist for a year with the University of Minnesota before getting his present gig. He replaced Bryce Paup in that role!
