In terms of trade value, our 2nd rounder gets us from #25 to #15.  Rousseau would have to be worth the #3 pick to get us up to #1.

Just in terms of our 1st round picks, our next 4 1st rounders (assuming current draft spot) wouldn't get us up to #1, especially considering future picks are worth less.

You probably would have to include a 2023 1st round pick, 2023 3rd round pick and a pick in the mid rounds in 2022 just to make such a trade into the top 2-3 feasible if there is value for Rousseau as a mid to late 1st. That's a lot to give up and not really sensible. It would make more sense to move back if possible into the late 20's to mid 30's to get more picks and address more depth and future needs in rounds 2-4 by grabbing more picks.

Never trade up! It's for idiots.

Never say "never".  I'm not agreeing with the OP - we need to continue to develop Rousseau, but trading up is exactly how we landed Josh Allen, so it's not always idiotic to trade up.

The #1 overall pick will not be a QB for only the 4th time since 2010 (Myles Garrett-'17, Jadaveon Clowney-'14 and Eric Fisher-'13). Aidan Hutchinson seems to be at the top of many draft boards.

A big need for the Bills is still a 10+ sack/year pass rusher. Would a package consisting of the Bills' 1st and 2nd round draft picks in '22 plus Greg Rousseau land them the #1 pick? Would you do it if you were the Bills? What if you were the Jaguars?

My thought here is that the Bills have 3 young DEs that could all be decent players but maybe not elite. Rousseau probably has the most potential. Hutchinson seems more of a sure thing. If you're the Jags, you get a player and 2 good picks. Plug in Hutchinson, maybe Epenesa and/or Basham work out, bring in a vet DE to be a rotational guy.

If you're the Jags and this isn't enough, what more do you think they would ask for? If you're the Bills, what more would you be willing to give up? Maybe the Bills have to throw in a 2 or 3 in '23.

Not happening.  I would however consider Bills trading their #1 for JAX #2 and their 2nd 3rd they got from Carolina.

Bills would draft a bust or at least underwhelming DE going by past history.

Cincy didn't defeat the Chiefs because they had more defensive talent than the Bills.  They had better brains than the Bills on defense.  Not sure how to fix that, though.

Since people seem to support McD and Frazier.

oh my goodness. If you think it would only take a 1st, 2nd and an unproven player to move up 20-odd spots, I question whether you’ve ever watched the NFL Draft.

Funny how some fans say - why would you trade Rousseau. Others say no way the Jags make that trade. Shows the bias we have of our own guys I guess. For the Jags to make this deal they would want at least a couple years of 1st round picks and most likely three. So if your the Bills I guess I should have answered would make the trade for only one 1st rounder. I would then try to trade that pick though for a proven pass rusher. Could we package that for better than what the #1 gives us?

Keep Rousseau - he's going to be a disruptor when he flourishes.

Get a pass rusher in FA

Stay put in Rd1:  We're in good position to snipe a falling star across a number of positions.  I want to see what we do if Treylon Burks is there

I would move up in Rd 2 to catch a Rd 1 talent/starter at CB/DT/OL if we plugged the right holes in FA

If the Jags were stupid enough to get fleeced and make that deal than Beane and the Bills would be fools not to make that deal.

If we are giving up quality draft picks though I still think the best route is to trade for a proven veteran like we did with Diggs. Need someone that can step in day one and transform this entire defense because of the attention they'll command and it also makes Oliver that much better in the process.

The only way the Bills are getting the #1 pick this year is trading Josh Allen himself.  Even if there was another way I really don't like the top of this draft class.  Lots of starting talent in rounds 2-3.  Beane will sit still this year.
