T&C Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 (edited) We'll be at Amalie Arena... could be the last time, Who knows, and don't be fooled... they still put it out there. Bethel would be my choice but it's not happening. https://consequence.net/2022/02/the-who-2022-north-american-tour/ 04/22 — Hollywood, FL @ Hard Rock Live 04/24 — Jacksonville, FL @ VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena 04/27 — Tampa, FL @ Amalie Arena 04/30 — New Orleans, LA @ New Orleans Jazz Festival 05/03 — Austin, TX @ Moody Center ATX 05/05 — Dallas, TX @ American Airlines Center 05/08 — The Woodlands, TX @ Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion 05/10 — Oklahoma City, OK @ Paycom Center 05/13 — Memphis, TN @ FedExForum 05/15 — Cincinnati, OH @ TQL Stadium 05/18 — Boston, MA @ TD Garden 05/20 — Philadelphia, PA @ Wells Fargo Center 05/23 — Washington, DC @ Capital One Arena 05/26 — New York, NY @ Madison Square Garden 05/28 — Bethel, NY @ Bethel Woods Center of the Arts 10/02 — Toronto, ON @ Scotiabank Arena 10/04 — Detroit, MI @ Little Caesars Arena 10/07 — Belmont Park, NY @ UBS Arena 10/09 — Columbus, OH @ Schottenstein Center 10/12 — Chicago, IL @ United Center 10/14 — St. Louis, MO @ Enterprise Center 10/17 — Denver, CO @ Ball Arena 10/20 — Portland, OR @ Moda Center 10/22 — Seattle, WA @ Climate Pledge Arena 10/26 – Sacramento, CA @ Golden 1 Center 10/28 — Anaheim, CA @ Honda Center 11/01 — Los Angeles, CA @ Hollywood Bowl 11/04 — Las Vegas, NV @ Dolby Live at Park MGM 11/05 – Las Vegas, NV @ Dolby Live at Park MGM Edited February 7, 2022 by T&C Quote
stuvian Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 love them dearly. Saw them around 2006. Don't feel like I need to see them again 1 Quote
WhoTom Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 We saw them twice in 2019 - both outstanding shows! They're doing the orchestra thing again, so I assume the same setlist, more or less: heavy on Tommy and Quadrophenia with a few other gems (and crowd-pleasers, like Baba O'Riley). They traveled with their normal touring band, plus a conductor, first cellist, and first violinist, but the rest of the orchestra was made of orchestral musicians from whatever city they were playing. They got the sheet music in advance, but only one rehearsal with the touring band a few hours before the show. As someone who appreciates classical music as well as rock, I was doubly amazed at the musicianship from both the orchestra and the rock band. They're not what they used to be, but they still put on a damn fine show. 1 Quote
coloradobillsfan Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 I'll be honest, I'm not excited about the orchestra thing. But FOMO will almost certainly lead me to buy a ticket for The Two anyway, as I am definitely a life long fan. I got to visit Beachy Head a few years ago, and Quadrophenia was on my mind the entire time I was there. So I'm guessing I will hit nostalgia overload during those songs. Along with Roger Waters, and Nick Mason whenever they reschedule their dates, this will comprise the geriatric part of my 2022 concert schedule Quote
Wacka Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Should play Highmark. Don't know what year (70s?). Roger Daltry Sings "Love reign o'er me" and it starts pouring. I remember reading that he said that was the only time that ever happened. Quote

At that point, Roger said, "I'll bet The Stones can't do that." 2 1 1 Quote
TheCockSportif Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 As a musician/engineer/mixer/whatever, I'm gonna enjoy The Who for what they were. 1 Quote
Bad Things Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Roger Daltrey is 77 (78 next month) Pete Townsend is 76 God Bless 'em, and much love and respect to them, but I'd rather remember them from back in the day. Quote

Don't feel like I need to see them again They performed at the SB halftime show some years ago and were beyond washed up then. Pete's playing was literally horrible. Keith is long gone and so is Entwistle...whose base playing is like 60% of the reason to listen to The Who. Honestly, I can't believe they are touring. Reminds me of some of the last Van Halen tours, cut short by Ed's drinking... Better leave them where they belong--in your memory. 3 Quote
muppy Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 (edited) I have seen this band twice back in the day. The first on Halloween 10/31/82...they were raw and fierce live it was legendary. I then saw them decades later with hubby, my son and his then gf in I think 2011 at the hollywood bowl. Both shows were incredible. I will never consider this band washed up to me that's just insulting. I know noone is begrudging them their due as an iconic band. I think if you haven't ever seen them and go you will likely enjoy it very much. I dont get to large venue rock shows much anymore in any case. the Who as a super bowl show BLARED from speakers at the Best super bowl party EVER at our home here so my memory of that event also differs greatly 🙂 m Edited February 8, 2022 by muppy Quote

BringMetheHeadofLeonLett Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Kinda torn on this one. I haven't seen them since the Quadrophenia redux tour... and it was fantastic, but I think I'll be let down if it's a rehash of the radio staples. I wish they'd shift into some of their lesser knowns and Pete's solo work- I think they could still put together a relevant show from that material. Saw Townshend solo in a small venue in '93- it was great, and so much less bloated than the gigantor production I fear. I'll probably catch this one, though... might be a last chance, and the teenage me still treasures the core of their existence. 1 1 Quote

Im wondering why they would decide to tour instead of say take up residency as many artists do. Even a few residencies in the USA would eliminate much travel. I dont envy them the road but meh its not my business why they are going out on tour. It's a nice paycheck. m 3 hours ago, leh-nerd skin-erd said: 1982. Epic. It was a very good year 🙂 what I failed to mention is 7 days after that Who show in 1982 was my wedding date, And we wore appropriate wedding attire to the Halloween Who show. LOL I wore a white dress, he wore suspenders and blue jeans. I hooked him to a fake ball and chain leash hooked up to a beltloop and he wore a sign that said "Just Married" and we are going on nearly 40 years later......Im telling you a story about a who show i havent thought about in years. Gotta love the internet eh Leo? haha m 1 1 Quote

Only time I saw The Who was 1982 at the Carrier Dome - in the topmost row - they billed it as their farewell tour, lol. Ironically the only other show I saw at the Carrier Dome was Rush a year or two later. And we were second row center. My view was better for Rush. 1 Quote

That’s because on that day, I boozed early and often. 😎 Congrats on 40 years with your husband, that’s awesome! My wife and I will be married 37 in September, though come to think of it, I met her a month before the show and we had just started spending time together when The Who came to town. A good year indeed! 1 Quote
