Whoa. The dolphins might be ****** if there’s witnesses to the $100k offer.

Id have to imagine they lose at least one 1st round pick, if not more.

Same for the Browns if Hue Jackson’s accusations are true (and he also claims to have proof). They should actually be punished even harsher because their tank actually worked. They got two 1st overall picks, and one of them could be a super star (Myles Garrett).

To the people who question Flores’ credibility or lack of integrity for not coming forward about the bribe to suck when it happened—it seems apparent that at least 2 and potentially many franchises suck on purpose to get better draft picks. The difference between choosing #1 vs 4 is huge. “Suck for luck” etc. I mean the Sabres did this openly. I’m not going to use that as a strike against Flores’ credibility in general, because it sounds as though it may be commonplace, especially in badly run front offices.

Texans or Saints would be smart to hire Flores.  I think most players would run through a brick wall for him, especially after taking on the NFL.

I would imagine his NFL coaching career is finished, which is a big part of what makes his actions so brave.

This is interesting and makes me curious. Why would he do the first interview but not a second? Did he not like what he heard? I have to think a second interview is not “a sham”.  But what do I know?  Any insight there?

Many coaches who want a promotion back away from offers if they didn’t like it.  I’m farther in my career. Just because I got offered a better paying job means I’ll take it.  There is more to it.

on the surface with the Vikings you can have sone potential issues like

1 a QB keaving thus big hole at QB and not in a great draft position to take a new QB or in a good position to draft one.

2 mismatch in team goals and philosophy. Like if he is a DC who say uses a 4-3 in defense goes to a team designed around a 3-4 woukd take longer to build up and change things.

3 cap situation on team over the next few years.  There are better jobs to have where a team drafted high and have some core pieces filled or has a ton of draft capital to improve a team and they are a team with cap space.

Depends on whether Schoen leaked it.  And how does Daboll look like a douche?

And Belicheat couldn't figure out which Brian he was texting?  LOL!

He would/should have known ALL that before interview #1. Something changed. Interviews go both ways.

Augie, Harbaugh's name is being tossed around for that job. Maybe DeMeco thinks that a 2nd interview would be a waste of his time. Harbaugh really is qualified, wouldn't you say? Seriously.

But as I said, there really is no holding back a man like Ryans. He will get his chance. Things will happen for him and many other deserving people.

That said, you can't start at the top. Not when billions of dollars are involved. That is why I made the point about rewarding teams who hire minority OCs and DCs. And btw, I did not think of this. Another poster in this thread did.

rewarding hiring minorities…should the development be worth more than just hiring? Right now teams who lose their coaches get comped so there is incentive to develop them

look at starting level jr coaching jobs, mid level position coaches, coordinators.  More climb the ladder the more that will get to head coaches.

At some point, someone saying this is racism, will tell us which part of Flores allegations are racist, correct?

I see an allegedly sketch owner in Miami and two examples of teams going through the motions of the league mandated Rooney Rule.

This is about to become one of the biggest NFL stories of our lifetime. Not only because they are paying coaches to lose games but because they may be intentionally hiring black coaches to check a box and lose games at the same time.  The implications are massive.

Any coach, player, staff member etc, who feels as though they were put in a situation beyond their control, which subsequently potentially ruined their career, will have a case to sue.  This is just beginning.

You don’t know things until the first interview of what system they have and how things are run.  Some teams are ass backwards.

it happens in the real world.  You apply for a job in your field. In the first interview you should be asking them how things are runand if you really fit there or does the job title not exactly match what you want to do.

We have no idea whether Schoen screwed up or not.  He has no particular ties to Belichick that I know of.  He worked for the Panthers, then Dolphins.  Why would anyone thing Schoen would be reaching out to Bill Belicheck to give him the inside track?

Until/unless someone comes up with info about exactly what was said to Belichick by whom, I think you mis-spelled "my inside info turned out to be wrong and I look like ........."

Why would Schoen leak info to Belichick?  He has no ties to him that we know of.  And of course Daboll doesn't look like a douche, except to a guy who spent his last week here claiming he had inside info that Flores was their guy from a "friend" who works for Mara and posting little sneers at Dabs.

No clue.  Just leaving it out there as a possibility.

As for the (alleged) inside info above that Gov provided, I wonder if Mara was saying all that stuff because Belicheat told him that he spilled the beans to Flores about Daboll?  And then changed his mind back.

That’s not how it is in the NFL which is a small career field.

think about it this way…

in Hollywood when making tv shows and movies. You build connections from past work

in the military on changing assignments over a career of 15+ years if you are in the same small specialty area your paths cross again.

in the music industry to cross paths in production, writing, as well as performing in employment.

in professional careers you keep former  contacts in networking.

the NFL coaching is a small club.  By keeping contacts is how you get jobs over the course of a career since you are usually fired with the head coach gets fired even if you weren’t at fault.

in the NFL look at coaching trees and successful coaches tend to branch out where firmer coaches go to other teams advancing their career.

This is how the work world works everywhere.  I worked 38 years in the computer field.   The very first job I got I didn't know anyone there. Just got my way in somehow.  Every job after that I knew someone there and they knew of me already from working in the same field.  Why should we expect football coaching to be different?   We may not like and its not fair, but it just is.  Of course no one should discriminate on the basis of race, but they're gonna hire who they want and its probably someone they know and have worked with cuz that's how it works.

According to the Giants response, I ended up being exactly right until the last minute……or we were fed this information and it was a total sham and Daboll was the guy days before.

Either way, it looks pretty bad now.

Why would communications have to leak from Schoen? Are you implying the Schoen 2 days on the job was running a tight ship, , Beane-like wizardry, that we so often hear about around here?

Schoen is a puppet. A puppet that’s now caught in the middle of a terrible mess.

OK, so make up your mind.

Either the Giants response is true and correct - in which case Schoen does not look bad and Flores suit is a sham

or

Your info was very wrong and Daboll was the leading candidate as soon as Schoen was hired - in which case Schoen still doesn't necessarily look bad, because we see from past history (like McDaniel and the Colts) and even this season (Leftwich and the Jaguars) that the leading candidate doesn't always wind up being hired, in which case the job goes to the best remaining guy with his hat in the ring.

Pick one

In neither case is it clear that Schoen looks bad or is a puppet, and calling Daboll a douche just looks like your nose is out of joint from bad info.

The more obvious leak would be from John Mara.  The captain of the ship.  He's friends with Belicheat, who would have informed him of his screw-up and then Mara suddenly wanting to desperately hire Flores.

You’re making a bunch of assumptions that might not be true.

We know that Flores was in East  Rutherford for interview 2 the morning I last posted. That was reported locally, and on NFL Network later in the day.

Did he actually have that 2nd interview? Is it mentioned in the suit? Did he find out that morning that the fix was in for Daboll? Why would Schoen have a second interview then? Did he not show up to that interview? Is that what made Flores go ballistic?

Did Flores come all the way here knowing the job was already gone and was just setting the trap for his suit?

Of course. Most Bills fans don’t understand how the Giants operate. All major decisions are made by Mara.

I love this stuff..‘Murcia Eff Ya…..Instead of opining the on the crap show of poor treatment, discrimination and tokenism Flores and others have had to endure…..Let’s question his story…..Awesome…

And people wonder why Flores hit the wall and broke out the flamethrower….he’s had enough because he has actual dignity as a human being

Sorry - I refuse to stomach hearing people call someone “courageous” who passed up opportunities to show true courage. If he really had principle, he would have walked out on Ross on the spot when he was bribed. That has nothing to do with discrimination; only what I believe to be a lack of conviction on his part. You have a different opinion and that’s fine, but mine should be respected as well

My take. right or wrong.

Rooney rule was put in place so minorities could have a chance to at least interview.  Because that was the agreement about 20 years ago. I do think the initial reasoning was on good intentions but over time, not so much.

Now did/do the Owners and GM's  go in a  head coaching search completely blind and have no idea before hand who they would want. Hell no.  They already have a list of coaches, white/black/mixed that they want to interview.  Then they have to go through the motions to interview minorities to fulfill the rule if their original list did not have a minority.

The Rooney Rule, in my opinion, is almost degrading at this point to both parties.  Teams are just going through the motion as I mentioned and as Flores mentioned.

Maybe conduct interviews randomly through a third party that sets time/days and the interviewee is blacked out or an avatar placed over them in video chat and voice is distorted for the initial screening.   And then based on that interview, the ones selected get to meet face to face.  I know it sounds crazy but it might be the only real chance that race or age isn't a factor.

Imagine if this was every job out there.  Companies would do what the NFL is doing and just having it as a check box.

would not work simply by the fact that a coaches previous body of work definitely weighs in heavily.  not to mention teams could still figure it out easily. they know whos avail or not. once they start hearing what scheme they run, answer questions about tendencies the veil is lifted.

teams would do everything in their power to figure out who they were speaking with.... so the new thing would just be, once they figured out i was black, based on the questions i was asked, they ruled me out. nice idea though really!

All of this is covered in links up thread - the supposed timing of Belichick's tweets, Daboll's 2nd interview, and Flores 2nd interview.

No assumptions

He looks like an entitled guy that didn’t tip his friend off that the fix was in and the job was already gone before he traveled back to NJ for a 2nd interview. Flores got the news by mistake text.

People are pretty mad here. It’s definitely not a good start for Daboll and Schoen when their initial goal was to build a new culture and remove the organizational dysfunction that’s gone on for years here in NJ.

The whole thing smells bad and has people saying “same old giants.”

Wait until fans find out Daboll doesn’t have a running game. Oh boy.

Running game and defense is everything to these people. He’ll be 1 and done here.
