How long until we get sued for the two sham interviews we did for OC

This is the downside of Rooney rule. People got the people they really  like and want them but Rooney rule makes it more in a mess in this way.

Wow they literally paid him to tank. This is going to rock the NFL.

Flores point is he didn't tank and as a result was viewed as a difficult employee.  It's all on the Dolphins owner.

I had a good chuckle at this part

21. Incredibly, this was not Mr. Flores’ first sham interview that was held only in an effort to comply with the Rooney Rule. Indeed, in 2019 Mr. Flores was scheduled to interview with the Denver Broncos. However, the Broncos’ then-General Manager, John Elway, President and Chief Executive Officer Joe Ellis and others, showed up an hour late to the interview. They looked completely disheveled, and it was obvious that they had drinking heavily the night before. It was clear from the substance of the interview that Mr. Flores was interviewed only because of the Rooney Rule, and that the Broncos never had any intention to consider him as a legitimate candidate for the job. Shortly thereafter, Vic Fangio, a white man, was hired to be the Head Coach of the Broncos.

I am not a lawyer, but I don't see how Flores could win this. Unless people in Miami/NYG ownership were stupid enough to send an email saying "We're not hiring Flores because he's black". Teams are free to hire/fire whomever they want.

I wonder if the league's response to this would be to nix the Rooney Rule ?

if the story about ross is true, i wonder what it does to their coaching search.

That’s an interesting point.

If the story about Ross is true, it was smart of Flores to refuse to attend that meeting with the QB on Ross’s yacht. I wonder who that QB was.

FOOTNOTE 30:

"Ironically, during their January 11, 2022 text exchange, Mr. McDonnell also suggested that if Mr. Flores were hired as the Giants Head Coach, Brian Daboll might be interested in leaving Buffalo to serve as his Offensive Coordinator (“Heard Daboll isn’t happy with Sean [McDermott] in Buffalo . . . might be able to get out if he doesn’t get a head job... thoughts?”)."

It sure could, if he has proof.

I would think Miami would potentially lose at least one 1st round pick and who knows how big of a fine (not that it would really matter to a billionaire like Ross).

It'll be interesting to see what he has to back up his claims.

Not a good look for Miami so far. But we’ll see what happens.

From the suit, "After the end of the 2019 season, Mr. Ross began to pressure Mr. Flores to recruit a prominent quarterback in violation of League tampering rules. Mr. Flores repeatedly refused to comply with these improper directives. Undeterred, in the winter of 2020, Mr. Ross invited Mr. Flores onto a yacht for lunch. Shortly after he arrived, Mr. Ross told Mr. Flores that the prominent quarterback was “conveniently” arriving at the marina."

Wonder how the QB was, Brady?

1) This points out the Rooney Rule is a total farce.

2) Ross has to consider putting the Dolphins up for sale if any of this is true.

Got to be Watson.

This will hurt the Dolphins owner more than anything else.  Alleged tanking & tampering won't go over well in the NFL office.

Flores just went scorched earth & will never work in the NFL again.

Well, that's an issue as well. If true, Flores had all this happen and continued to work for Ross. Collected paychecks and kept it all to himself while happily continuing to coach for the team? Seems like and odd time to grow morals now.

The BS in this suit can be smelled for thousands of miles!

He's really suing because he feels he got a token Rooney interview??  Or is it because he was forced to eat dinner with Shoen?  lol

The numbers will easily tell us that nearly every Rooney interview is a sham (the Bills just had one for OC, no?), so there can be no suit since there is no damage here.

If he truly "knew" Daboll had already been offered the job, he certainly was not "forced" to dine, nor did he "have" to give an interview.

This only makes Flores, not the league, look bad---compounding his bizarre decision to dump on Tua his way out of Miami.

This guy needs a new agent or perhaps adult supervision.

Wow this offseason already getting great, cant wait for more to come out.

If Flores is wrong, his is done in the NFL.

And if he's right, the Dolphins owner should lose the team and the some heads should roll in East Rutherford, too.  Both teams should also lose draft picks.  Lastly, Flores should be come a very, very rich man.
