That's the only 0 I can remember Numbers 0 and 00 are no longer used, though they were issued in the NFL before the number standardization in 1973. Quarterback Johnny Clement, running back Johnny Olszewski, and safety Obert Logan all wore a single-0 jersey in the NFL. Author George Plimpton wore 0 during a brief preseason stint at quarterback for the Detroit Lions. Jim Otto wore number "00" during most of his career with the Oakland Raiders as a play on his name, "aught-oh." Wide receiver Ken Burrough of the Houston Oilers also wore "00" during his NFL career in the 1970s. More recently, linebacker Bryan Cox wore 0 in the 2001 preseason with the New England Patriots; for the regular season, he switched to 51.[4] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Football_League_uniform_numbers#:~:text=Numbers 0 and 00 are,0 jersey in the NFL. 2 Quote

wppete Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Wow. This had to be one of the craziest threads started on this board in years and that is saying a lot 😂. Unbelievable. Quote
TheyCallMeAndy Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 17 represents love/peace or sin/evil? Sounds perfect then. Quote
reddogblitz Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 (edited) I say no. I love the number 17. Its a real QB number like Don Meredith wore. I hate seeing QBs run around in kicker numbers (1, 2,3,4...) Don't listen to him Josh, 17 is great. Edited February 2, 2022 by reddogblitz Quote

Much more lucky than 17 (remember, in many countries they don't have elevators with the number 17 in them). If Josh really wants to use a 1 or a 7, use a multiple of 1+7...8 or 16. https://affinitynumerology.com/number-meanings/number-16-meaning.php We've suffered through four years of nothing and all I can attribute it to is this stinking number 17. It has to end. Quote
swimtoga Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Did anyone say it’s going to be a long offseason, yet? 1 1 Quote

It has to end. I think Matt Cassel was #16. When drafted I waned him to be #13 like Kurt Warner. But really, IMHO, the number a QB wears on his back has nothing to do with wether his team's D can stop a team from getting in FG range in 13 seconds. Besides, if an NFL player changes his number he has to buy all the old number Jerseys in stock. I'd hate to see poor Josh waste his money on this. He was #17 in college too so its probably a lost cause. Edited February 2, 2022 by reddogblitz Quote
Saxum Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 The most important number is the amount of money Josh Allen would need to pay for all of the jerseys with his old number on it. 1 Quote

Heavy Kevi Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 (edited) I was gonna say "poppycock" and question the OP's cognitive abilities... Then I saw it's one of those bringbackfergy troll jobs. @BringBackFergy you are the master of getting a full discussion out of a seemingly rediculous premise and well, it's the off-season so what the hell. NOOOO!! 17 is his number gosh dang it. And Josh is the truth. Just ask Marky Mark... Edited February 3, 2022 by Heavy Kevi Quote

skibum Posted February 4, 2022 Posted February 4, 2022 (edited) Funny, I never thought of it but not a lot of well-regarded QBs have worn 17. Philip Rivers may be the best, then there's Dave Krieg, Jake Delhomme, Don Meredith, Doug Williams, Steve DeBerg, and Billy Kilmer. Other notables in sport: Wendel Clark, Jari Kurri, Rick Fox (barf), Ilya Kovachuk, Felipe Alou, Chris Mullen, Keith Hernandez, Hondo. But yeah, not a lot of all-time greats in the mix. Hondo and Kurri, then maybe Kovalchuk, Rivers, Alou, Clark, and Mullen if we're ranking. Great opportunity for JA to become the greatest to ever wear the 17! I love obscure jersey numbers. I've studied how numbers affect our lives and thought I'd research how numbers may affect our team (especially JoshAllen). It might explain some of the problems he's facing and whether he will regress in the next few years. My analysis indicates that Josh should, in fact, change his number. https://www.mastermindcontent.co.uk/symbolic-meaning-of-the-number-17/ Relevant excerpts: In the ancient world, the symbolic meaning of the number 17 was highly spiritual and represented love and peace – or sin and evil. If you fail to make the right decisions, as seen in number 16, you will continue to encounter obstacles. Significantly, 17 reduces to eight in gematria. This system was initially used by the ancient Babylonians and in alchemical traditions who state the eight is to where “knowledge of the Great Secret is attained.” In Shi’ite mysticism, seventeen was the number of dead bought back to life, an idea the ancient Greeks also believed. Essentially, the myth refers to resurrection. Also: Seventeen is the only prime number which is the sum of four consecutive primes (2,3,5,7). Any other four consecutive primes summed would always produce an even number, thereby divisible by 2 and so not prime. The sequence of residues (mod n) of a googol and googolplex, for n = 1, 2, 3, ..., agree up until n = 17. Take it for what's it's worth, but there's a sound case for changing the number on his jersey. And what should he change it to?? Quote
