It's a thought, however if he was one staff last year not sure how well it helped.

True but he was an assistant OL coach.  Johnson and Daboll were making the calls for OL.

How many coaches/assistant coaches will we let Daboll take from our current staff (assuming all are lateral moves and not promotions)?

Glad you aren’t the GM. Mongo definitely isn’t a starter, but he is the kind of guy that you won’t complain about having on your bench for depth and for culture.

He's a dime a dozen player making 5 million a year. Guys like can be found in a lot of places for a lot cheaper. He’s tough and by all accounts a good dude, but he isn’t worth that contract. To team like the Giants who need to establish culture, he would be valuable.

Its actually a real scumbag move.

The thing is we don't know what was/is going on.  Johnson may have been on the way out and Daboll grabbed him to bring some

consistency in building a staff.  Got to give it time and maybe stuff will come out.

FWIW some interesting comments from Scarnecchia about Wendell taking over the Center spot in NE.

https://www.espn.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4733551/wendell-impresses-in-starter-role

excerpt:

Wendell's performance drew the praise of his position coach, Dante Scarnecchia, who was asked if Wendell has done an excellent job of stepping in to replace Koppen.

"I think he has. Clearly the obvious is that he replaced a very, very good football player and a very popular football player," Scarnecchia said. "That's as tough of a decision as we've ever had around here for those reasons.

"But we also knew that this is a young guy that has played very well when we've asked him to play and he's done a very good job through the first eight games of the season, and he's all the things we thought he would be," he continued. "He's very tough, very smart, and a really competitive guy on every down, through every down. He's a great finisher and that's why he's here, and that's why we kept him as a rookie and kept him around here and that's why this kid is on our roster, and that's why he's starting for us, all those reasons."

Could be something there.  Learned under the master.  Called the OL protections.  And was undrafted so he had to work and study harder than others.

I completely understand the Wyatt teller reference, and I can see why you would bring up Quinton Spain, but Quinton Spain is not the reason that the Bengals are in the Super Bowl. He definitely could’ve been one of the reasons they weren’t though. That offensive line is horrendous. 9 sacks versus Vegas?!!

A lot of those sacks were on Joe Cool (IMO)

Happens all the time around the league.

Its one thing to take assistant line coaches, or assistant coordinators.  When you start to raid the team you came from of their main position coaches and coordinators, its a crap move.

I’m surprised Daboll is pouching the Bills and surprised Bobby Johnson would leave an offense with Josh Allen.

Not surprised so much by the former since it is fairly common around the league, but really surprised by the latter. Like with Daboll, Josh will be a king maker for more and more people as time goes on. Usually, people are trying to hitch their wagon to something like that. Why anyone would even entertain leaving us should be pretty telling about how McD really feels about that person.

Agree, however you would think he would have input as well. How much we wouldn't know.

Culture to a point I can agree with. As well as being versatile. Depth...eh. He's a declining player that was at best an upper tier JAG 2 years ago. Can find players of his skill level without much difficulties. Add in his price tag and the juice isn't worth the squeeze IMO.

Why am i suddenly feeling insecure that Buffalo is not that hot of a destination.

Come to think of it, it can’t be all that fun to hang out on the sidelines in 40mph gusts or rain/snow going sideways.  Although coaching/playing in NJ isn’t exactly South Florida either.
