Since there are a lot of people feeling certain ways over Tee Martin and Edgar Bennett being announced as the 1st 2 OC candidates I figured there were already strong thoughts on external guys we could discuss.

What I'd like to know is who are Coaches you like and most important...WHY?

While Dorsey is a popular name because he's on staff I would like to focus more on externals for the moment.

I will add mine down thread as to not influence responses.

I don't have a person in mind because truthfully I don't know what makes an offensive coordinator a good hire vs a bad one at a competency level. I would however prefer someone with playcalling experience who is known for a dynamic offensive philosophy and who caters more to the strengths of the players than a person who slams down a book and says "this is the offense I run".

I don't want us to have to train someone on the job. We're ready to win now, so let's roll.

Honestly when it comes to coordinators, especially those calling plays for the first time, no one has any idea how they will be.  I’m going with Ken Dorsey only because it appears Josh wanted him as OC.

I would also like Chad Hall for no other reason than the fact both coaches and players seem to love him and he’s known for his work ethic.  No clue about him calling plays.

I don’t want Edgar Bennett…I would give Tee Martin a shot because he’s pass oriented

Tee Higgins, the WR for the Bengals might be our OC?

Tee Martin wouldn't be terrible although really somewhat unproven and might just be a Rooney Rule qualification, which is sad in many respects.

I go with Dorsey, also unproven as a play caller, like the continuity.

Sean Payton said it well.  ‘Mahomes and Allen are the best at off schedule plays.”

You need a OC who will continue to allow/encourage off schedule plays.

not all OCs are agreeable.  Some are “my system or the high way.” Or “I want the ball coming out at his exact moment and thrown to this exact spot.”

Not all OCs are giddy to dial up the QB Dive up the middle out of the spread formation.

You need an OC with a more modern philosophy and flexible personality and average ego.

Not so sure about that.

Both Allen and Mahomes were justifiably critiqued for too many off schedule play, "hero ball".  I think Mahomes reverted back into that trap in the second half yesterday.  Both of them are great at off schedule play and both have a tendency to try too hard.

I want to at least interview Mike Kafka - there are so many similarities between our Offensive personnel and KC's it's worth kicking the tires on someone that has helped them get further.

How about wr coach for Edgar if turns out that way? For me I'd take anyone who helps the Bills out.

Eric Bieniemy - Make him OC/Asst HC so it's not a lateral move. Josh will make any OC look good and when after a couple years Bieniemy becomes a HC we'll get 2 3rd round comp picks. He had to learn something being besides Andy Reid for a number of years.

You're so deflating, with comments like that. 🤨😁

Sorry.  I just feel down right now because I had to destroy my phone.  Definitely not related to anything I said or did.

OK, good to know for your well-being.  We'll keep an eye on you...and an ear, too. If you need anything, just let us know.  No need to call, just say it aloud...we'll hear it.

Brady does know how beneficial it is being talked to via helmet audio during plays.

To me the biggest thing is letting the guy know this is all about Josh - not you and your scheme.  Hell, I would be fine if Josh sits in on the interview and has a vote

This is an excellent choice IMO. One of the guys I have had in mind as well. Very high regarded and well liked by many from what I've heard.

To me this question is tabled until we hear Dorsey is moving on. He's the obvious choice and it's his job to seize, imo.

It's obvious IF the Bills just want to promote from within. Yes, Josh endorsed him, and he is well thought of by some...but I don't think it's automatically "his job".

Frankly, aside from already being here we know no more about him that we can find out about Tee Martin and Mike Kafka with the aide of a brief internet search.
