So are we supposed to bank on a safety dropping a gimme free interception too in order to make the SB?  Lmao

JC Jackson dropped one to give us the division.  Feel free to let the Pats know we should have played them at Foxborough WC weekend.

We would have destroyed them there still too.

Literally two teams with HoF QB's.

Steelers' "proven track record" led to exactly zero SB appearances in the last decade. 9-7 ain't sexy.

That is the model. Draft a franchise QB, and draft/develop young talent around them for the long haul, and be in the hunt for a SB every year. The Steelers had 3 SB appearances, 2 SB wins, and haven’t had a losing season in 19 years.

The NFL has really become a matchup league. I think you are better off trying to have a sustained successful model

to make the playoffs every year, and then try to get a path of favorable matchups to win the SB.

The Rams model is just risky, and it is no guarantee that it will work. They should have lost last week, when their heavily Leveraged defense choked.  And, as constructed, there is no chance they could beat the Bills or Chiefs. They are lucky they won’t have to play them.

They haven't been in a "mortgage the future" mode for half a decade. They had some good draft picks andthen started trading first round picks for established talent (much like the Bills did for Diggs); however, they still maintained most of their draft picks. They didn't truly start handicapping themselves in future drafts until the last year or so, and the upcoming draft, in which they only have two 7th round picks, will be the first draft in which they will really be affected in a big way.

I have no idea how the strategy will play out long term. We will see.

They haven't drafted a player in the first round since 2016.

And if they win the Superbowl, no one will care.

If we go to two Super Bowls and then don't win one for the last 13 years of Josh Allen's career, that's a failure.

Rams’ model is high risk, and high and short-lived reward.

Seems like you have a lot of other teams that have a proven track record of success of drafting and developing your own talent (eg, patriots, Steelers).

Ravens... Packers...

Nor have they won a Super Bowl.

well, my point is that the Rams’ model, if they win the SB, will probably be due to some luck there too.

I said that in my post. They traded away their first round picks for talent; however, they still retained most of their draft picks every year. That’s not mortgaging the future. That didn’t start until the last year or so and this upcoming draft will be the first that will have been truly impacted. So, like I said, we’ll see how things go from here.
