With Josh’s low handicap it’s hard for him to contribute. If he’s had a 7 handicap (which I think is close to what he is) he only contributes to the team with a birdie on handicap holes 8-18 and with a par on handicap holes 1-7. He’s not going to birdie these courses very often and paring the toughest 7 holes is tough. His best chance to help the team is paring a hole his partner bogeys.

yesterday Mitchell was -2 and the team was -4 so Allen contributing two strokes. Today Mitchell is -3 through 9 (just bogeyed hole 9) and the team is -8 through 8

Mitchell bogeyed 9 but team is still -8 through 9 so Josh must have contributed on 9 with a par

Isn’t this best ball?

Nope. It’s a real tournament for the pros so can’t be best bal. scoring is best hole score pro or amateur. Amateur gets a stroke for holes lower than handicap. Meaning for a 6 handicapper, they get a stroke on the 5 toughest holes

Instead of the Pro Bowl, that NOBODY wants to see, send them ALL to Pebble Beach to play golf. I’ll be far more likely to watch, and more players will be excited about it. Maybe even have a Charles Barkley Award!

they could have a mini golf option too

Makes more sense than the Pro Bowl. It’s like exhibition MMA. You either do it for real, or you find another option. MMA turned into a slap fest would be a disgrace, much like the Pro Bowl.

So apparently Allen made the cut! and will play tomorrow

https://golf.com/news/2022-att-pebble-beach-pro-am-tee-times-round-3/

Tee time 1:30 pm on Pebble Beach Tee 1.

A bit confused:

1:31 p.m. – Keith Mitchell & Josh Allen (9), Kevin Streelman & Larry Fitzgerald Jr (7)

Is the # in parenthesis his handicap?  Because people up thread are saying he's a (7), but it seems he's a (9)?

He is a 9 handicap

I think there are 3 courses and all the Amateur participants were guaranteed to play through Saturday (each course).  Then the field is cut down to the top Pro-AM scores for Sundays final round.

He's officially a + capper (+1.2 to be exact).  Most touring pros are in the +6 to +8 range.

I call BS on his +1.2...   He's only posted 20 rounds since 2016???  No way...   He's likely only posting his best scores and I would classify him as a reverse sandbagger or a vanity handicapper

That's not what people were saying up-thread - they were saying that only the top 25 pairs play on Saturday.  🤷‍♂️

Nah, all pro-am groups play each of the 3 courses. Otherwise, you'd never see Bill Murray and other ams on the telecast Saturday. Cut is made before Sunday's round.

Josh is teeing off @ 10:30 tomorrow with Larry Fitzgerald on Pebble Beach.

Edit - sorry, missed your tee time post up a little bit - Josh is playing to a 9 and Larry is a 7 ( at Whisper Rock in Arizona ) meaning he's more like a 2-3.

How is the cut line determined? The cut line for the PGA Tour pros after 54 holes will be the top 65 players, plus those tied at the end of that group. But Pebble Beach also throws in a wrinkle, as the Top 25 Pro-Am teams after the handicap of the amateur is factored in also get to play on Sunday

Yeah i’m just going off what i read online about a week ago.  I could be wrong, but thought it indicated Josh and the amateurs would play all 3 courses Thu-Sat.   Too confusing!

Final round is always at Pebble - top 25 pro-am teams play even though one of the pros in the top 25 pro-am groups might have missed the professional cut.

This is best ball.  Not to be confused with a scramble. People use these labels interchangeably but they are two different things.  This tournament is best ball.
