Sacks Per Game & Sack Percentage

Per game

2018: 2.3

2019: 2.4

2020: 1.6

2021: 1.5

Percentage

2018: 7.59% and 21st in the NFL (Josh missed games, though)

2019: 7.12% and 21st in the NFL

2020: 4.66% and 7th in the NFL

2021: 3.89% and 2nd in the NFL (Brady & Bucs at #1)

In 2019 Allen was the 10th most sacked QB in the NFL.  In 2021 he was the 27th most sacked QB in the NFL.

Does this say something about Allen's progression in the mental aspects of the game, including pre-snap, or are you attributing this mostly to OL?

I think they should keep him

We need to figure out how to clone Josh Allen and have a whole offense of Josh Allens and then get defensive Josh Allen and clone that Josh Allen and have an entire starting lineup of Josh Allens.

This is a bad idea. Josh Allen’s kryptonite is Josh Allen, see the Jaguars game.

Yep. Most of his bad plays were when he didn't trust his eyes and held the ball and threw late. That happens way less than it used to. Call it the game slowing down or his process speeding up or whatever you like. But it is no coincidence.

I have to think there's a better stat to show it than that, it only really moved once.

And perhaps they should statistically distinguish it from the performance of the O-line.  There are multiple factors behind those numbers, rule out what cannot be then if all you're left with is Josh Allen you can make the case.

So would 11 Josh Allens on defense be enough kryptonite for Patrick Mahomes?

Not only does he trust them now, he's turned them into an assassin's tool.

And he still keeps getting better at it.....

I'd like to see significantly fewer "dumb" sacks by Allen next year.  I love the improvement; I just think he can do better.  It's really the only thing that he does that makes me yell at the TV.  "You can't take that sack, Josh!!!!"  (But it's a far cry from the yelling I did during the Tuh-ROD Era - "Throw the mother fu*king ball, you moron!!!!)

Same with fumbles.  Josh had two fewer fumbles (9) than in 2020.  Would like to see better.  Although the trend is nice to see:

2019 - 16

2020 - 11

2021 - 9

The guard position was getting him clocked once Ryan Bates was inserted in the lineup we where much better.

As for Josh himself and his ability Greg Cossell even brought this up he knows what the defense wants to do to him  and he now adjusts to it much faster

The Jaguars game was just Murphys Law but other games where he was on the biggest stage he was the best player on the field and that’s kinda nice

By FAR the most miserable I've ever been as a Bills fan.  I hated every season he was here.  ***** bum.
