DrDawkinstein Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Dorsey was a McBeane guy from Carolina. I have to imagine his loyalty lies with the Bills staff, and more importantly, Allen. Any team hiring a new coach this year sucks. Why go to a bad situation when you can stay here, likely win a Super Bowl in a couple years, and be on a fast track to a HC spot? 1 Quote

Daboll was one of the highest paid OC's in the league in Buffalo at I believe around $2M. So I think Dorsey might have a decision to make between college and the NFL as well. His best chance being successful would be staying with Josh I would think, but never know what's on a persons mind Quote

You have a winning team with strong offensive personnel and a HOF-caliber QB already in place. The Giants (or Bears, or wherever Daboll might end up) could turn out to be total s*&t show ending up with everyone getting fired. Doing a good job with the Bills (which would almost seem inevitable) would lead to HC opportunities in the future. Dabol could easily end up in Miami, Dabol had Tua in college. I never thought much of Tua but I have to giv him credit for edning the season like a real NFL QB. Maybe Dorsey think he can develop Tua into the "tank for Tua" non-sense so many were babbling about a few years ago. And Miami is projected to have the most cap space. Quote
clayboy54 Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Judging by McDermott's response yesterday, I suspect none of the assistants will be made available to Daboll or Frasier, assuming they are under contract. McD said they have already discussed this with the candidates. Quote

Reports had Daboll at $1.2 million last season. Callahan 237k, Canada made 650k, AVP 917k, Mc Daniels 4 million, Shurmer $6 million, LaFleur $10.6 million.... Venables at Clemson $2.5 million, Elliot at Clemson $2.13 million, Elko Texas A&M $2.1, Grantham Florida $1.8.... Note those and the other highest paid OCs in college are at state schools Additionally, UM was considering him for Head Coach - which is now Cristobal who got a 10 year $80 million deal that upset the school staff because they had to take pay cuts. If they offer him over $1.5 million as a first year coordinator the staff will flip! Quote
Mat68 Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Why not the Hall the wr coach? McVay, Shannahan, Lafluer all started at wr coach. Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Who cares. We have Allen. We don't even know if Dorsey is any good at anything. I'd favor continuity but who is the OC is the least of my worries heading in to this off-season. 2 Quote

It's also widely believed that Josh wants Dorsey as OC, and McD said Josh's input is important to him. What do you think Dorsey would do given both options, to stay and OC a proven star on a SB caliber team in Josh/Bills, or does he take OC is NY (or wherever) with Daboll and potentially Trubisky? Does he stay or does he go? He gets Josh Allen or Daniel Jones you wanna tell me which player gets you a head coaching job and which gets you fired? In the offensive room more than the qb coach could be the answer at OC is all. Best offensive mind should be the guy. Edited January 26, 2022 by Mat68 Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Dorsey to Bills OC. Davis Webb to QB Coach? 1 Quote
zow2 Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Josh needed Daboll to help him with the training wheels and getting up to speed in the NFL. Now that JA is all grown up and knows how to makes plays, read NFL defenses and harnessed his own potential..i think he will thrive with a new OC. Whether that's Dorsey or not, who knows. Quote

Draft a late QBs on a flyer too I love Fitz, and lead the bandwagon to get him into the HoF. But I don't want him anywhere near Josh with his backup curse. He can sign a 1-day contract to retire as a Bill, but that's it. For backup QB, I'd follow the Trubisky model. Keep finding those 1st round picks that were mishandled by the team that drafted them, and bring them in for 1 year. Next year is Darnold (who is good friends with Josh), year after maybe Daniel Jones, year after that Trey Lance, etc... Edited January 26, 2022 by DrDawkinstein Quote
