Of course, if we start the year with only 2 WRs on the roster we will need to get more, but it was not a need this year at all. We could have had Jerry Rice in his prime int he slot and we still lose. Disagree. You've got to get better wherever you can get better. If there's a receiver out there that you can afford who's better than Sanders or Beasley, bring him in. The kind of thinking that "we're set on offense, now let's concentrate on improving the defense" is always a mistake.

I can see Beane being open to a 1st round going in a lot of positions.

If so, they need to draft receiver. Either a big physical type or speed. Hopefully Stevenson also develops. I easily see Beasley gone, Sanders may want to stay for a ring? McKenzie stays put IMO. Cooper and Davis. well My point was the Bills drafted Jones as a very highly touted WR out of college (sure handed , fast) who had his issues and is now in Las Vegas. And Davis being drafted has nicely fit into his starters role (which I trust he will have next season) so that was my point. He has I think exceeded expectations even. Gabe was 2020 draft of course. Point was that sometimes the best WRs in their respective drafts were mid-later round guys. Davis has absolutely exceeded expectations.

In fairness, Zay set the all-time receptions record in college football and Ran a 4.46. Cooper Kupp ran a 4.62. Gabe Davis is faster and bigger than Kupp. Same height.... similar first 2 years...
FilthyBeast
Not even Jerry Rice or Randy Moss ever had a game like this in the postseason. Might be somewhat of a hot take but don't be surprised if Davis surpasses Diggs at some point as the #1 WR for this team. 1
stosh64
Gabe has benefitted from learning and growing behind some of the best. Diggs, Manny Sanders, even John Brown have been excellent teachers. Gabe wasn't forced in before he was ready, it was really the perfect way to bring in a WR. I hope Stevenson progresses, I had a lot of optimism very early in the season that he could be our speed guy, a burner to fill Hills role, now I'm not as optimistic. Marquez looked pretty bad returning the ball, no vision, no moves and he didn't 'look' as fast as they said he was (4.37 40 time, however 4.45 40 @ combine) I still have some hope but it is tempered a lot. I feel we still need a burner through the draft (whether McKenzie gets re-signed or not. Preferably a TALL speed guy. 2

I had picked Gabe as the player other than JA to be the star of the Chiefs game. NEVER did I expect this other worldly performance. Kids a stud who's gonna star for a long time. Perhaps Beane's best pick - not named Josh. 1

Gabe has been a #4 WR for 2 years with over 1,100 yards receiving and 13 TDs. In his limited role he has performed way better than expected and I do believe his best is yet to come. Penciling him in as a #2 is OK with me and he has hopes to be more than that. FTR he only took 51% of the snaps this year.

BullBuchanan
56 minutes ago, Dr. Who said: You're belligerent and like to mock folks who disagree with you. You've done this before. Josh Allen took a pounding to achieve the Bills' excellence on offense. Mahomes has an easier job because Hill and Kelce are playmakers of superior ability that constantly stress a defense. The Bills do not have that kind of firepower, though they have good players. They need to add someone that can stress a D on offense. That is the argument and it's not foolish, even if you think otherwise. @BADOLBILZ has made the case for spending high end draft picks on offense well. Go search his posts and try to think outside your rage. I tend to mock folks with awful takes and high confidence in them - correct. The Bills have Stefon Diggs, one season removed from being the best in football, a WR who just set a playoff record in Gabe Davis, and Dawson Knox who had a breakout season. I'm sure they'll keep adding talent, just as they always do, but the premise of what we need to do to win this game by you and others int his thread is utterly ridiculous. Beane will likely spend his first three picks on players who weigh more than 250 lbs, and he should. The trenches will help us more than anything, and they know that. There could be a RB in there somewhere and a WR or two on day two and three.

He isn't as good as Diggs........but he might steal Diggs thunder.........because he doesn't run the short and intermediate routes and catch them as reliably as Diggs.........or answer the bell and play like he's healthy every week like Diggs...............so Diggs ends up carrying the load and doing the dirty work. Didn't get the impression Diggs was thrilled about how the passing action unfolded in KC. They really do need to get a YAC guy to be the #2 option to scare teams underneath and let Diggs get his share of deep ball work as the #1 and let Davis be the best 3rd option and most wide open deep threat in the NFL.

But be honest…did you think he was a stud before this past game? Yes. Did you watch his rookie season - in particular the playoff game against the Colts? I don't post as much as many others here, but I said in the early weeks of the season that Davis should be our #2 and that he was superior to Sanders. When Sanders got hot, I retreated a little bit (and said as much in my posts), but I have always thought that Davis was stud. I also think that McKenzie is underutilized. In games he has been featured 1) the second Miami game last year; and 2) the second NE game this year, he's been lights out. He's got excellent speed and has displayed good hands at WR in the last couple of seasons. I think he's been better as a WR than as a kick returner.
