Josh says Heads instead of Tails and we may be feeling a different kind of way right now

That's what hurts. The way the QBs/offenses were playing it was probably an 80% chance that the team that wins the coin flip wins the game.

It's awful to see an entire season end that way. And it's even worse to see one of the great games in NFL history end that way.

Scenario: Kicking off up 3 with 13 seconds left.

100% Fail Proof strategy for dummies:

1.  Kick the ball out the back of the end zone.

2.  1st down at 25 w/ 13 seconds:  Hold all eligible receivers at line of scrimmage (and don't let go) Yes, intentionally hold them before the pass.

Penalty-holding defense- 5 yard penalty-

3.  1st down at 30 with 8 seconds:. Hold all eligible receivers at line of scrimmage (and don't let go) Yes, intentionally hold them before the pass.

Penalty-holding defense-5 yard penalty

4.  1st down at the 35 with 4 seconds: Knock down the Hail Mary.

5.  Host AFC Championship vs. Bengals

6.  Win 1st Superbowl vs Rams

7.  No longer losers.

The holding thing won't work. There is a specific rule against committing multiple penalties to kill the clock - 15 yard penalty and clock reset to time at the snap.

Sure, essentially cheat to win the game. Brilliant.

McDermott must feel like the dumbest SOB on the planet this morning.

I hope it fuels him moving forward, but I'm done with him regardless.

I can't watch this guy let down the team and waste Allen's greatness for another second

McD is so arrogant (but slow at the same time) he'll convince himself it's not his fault.  Deep down, he knows he's slow in-game, but he'll keep doing things the same way believing that game prep can at worst mitigate tough decisions.

I'm done with him.  He's not a championship caliber coach.  He's a coach that has an elite QB covering up his mistakes.

Well, at least do it once.

You can only hold 1 player - if you're holding all over the place and it's obvious the rule applies - it does not have to be multiple plays.

You can hold the 1st time...But if you do it again, and the refs feel it's intentional, it's a 15 yard penalty and they put the time back on the clock...You can still knock the s*** out of them in the first five yards...You could've done that at any time...You just can't intentionally hold on consecutive downs...At least that's how they explained the rules this AM on WGR...B-)

I will say this. If I was a Pats fan I’d be even more concerned. The Pats aren’t even in the same league as the Chiefs and Bills and never will be with Jones.

Like I said the rule is fine, had bills won the toss and went down and scored it wouldn't even be brought up. The Chiefs fought for the OT rule to be changed after the 18 season and it was shut down.

OT in playoffs needs to be changed each team should get a possession and if still tied first score wins

So, Chiefs score, we score, Chiefs score
Bills still lose

What ya talking about?  They did go for 2 so that they would be up by 3 after the last TD

I think he’s referring to the third time the game was over within the last two minutes, not the second time.

did you even read the rule?

you don't want to look like a dummy

You can tackle all the receivers once. The clock runs down during the play and you get a 5 yard penalty.

If you do it again it is a 15 yard and no time off clock.

They could have done it on first down and run however much time Mahomes allows to run off the clock. He might have run around wasting time or took off running. Time run off the clock and only a 5 yard penalty. Then they have one play left to get in fg position from their own 30. If they had kicked it off high to the 10 even more time is off the clock or worse field position.

The coaches make millions and didn't even know enough to do that.

That was such a weak and pathetic defense. KC conceded nothing and the Bills fought for every yard down the stretch. Then the coaches just play 25 yards deep and hand them the game with virtually no resistance. These coaches embarrassed themselves for life and we will have to hear about it and see it over and over again for many years. They completely failed the team, the city and its fans.

‘Multiple players’ can’t do it to manipulate clock so you can only hold one receiver it sounds like.  The others are free to get as open as they want.

I think he means the second team has to go for 2 maybe

A good idea might have been to have 7 DBs out there in the final 13 seconds instead of rushing 4 lineman and dropping 2 of them back 3 yards from the line of scrimmage to do what I'm not exactly sure. No more than 2 rushers should have been sent since time was on our side and the longer Mahomes stayed in pocket the better. And having at least 9 true coverage defenders would have closed the windows and allowed at the very least opportunities for the defenders to make a play on the ball or a quicker tackle. Insult to injury, McDermott used timeouts in order to put the worst possible defensive scheme out there for that situation.

No it doesn't the rule is just fine, you gotta stop the team that wins the toss.

Not when you have QB’s like Allen and Mahomes. Those two wouldn’t be denied last night. It was the same with Mahomes and Brady a couple seasons ago.
Footballs a team game, and the Bills offense and Kansas defense never saw the field in OT, but those sides of the ball are part of the reason for OT. There should be rule changes to allow this to happen, especially when the NFL is moving more to high flying offenses. We will see this more and more.

The Chiefs attempted to get the rule changed after that , it was shut down quick

This isn't the first time and it won't be the last we watch McDermott do something incredibly stupid.  I can tolerate losing a game on a physical mistake.  But I can't tolerate losing a game on multiple mental idiotic decisions.
