All_Pro_Bills Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 (edited) We'll likely never know exactly what Frazier and McDermott were really thinking here. 13 second left starting at the 25 with 3 timeouts. They strategized it for a situation where the offense had 1 or 0 time outs left where getting to the boundaries to stop the clock was something the offense needed to do. Just modifying the defensive alignment to play off 10 yards and not focus on the sidelines and instead focus on doubling specifically Kelce and Hill would have almost certainly resulted in a stop. They had time for 2 plays of 25 yards but not enough time for 4 plays of 10 yards regardless of the timeout situation. What's most disturbing after digesting the outcome for about an hour is not the loss but how completely obvious and clear this should have been to the coaches. But the defense they called just set up the 11 players out there for failure. And added another heartbreaking loss to the list when we all should be getting psyched up for next weeks AFC championship at the stadium instead of not even caring about it. FireChans Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 someone ask McD or Leslie their thoughts on why Levi is 3 yards outside of Kelce here. WHAT IS HE DOING OUT THERE? WHY ARE YOU GUARDING SIDELINE? 3 Quote

Bend but don't break works beautifully over the course of a 17 game season where you are trying to get to 11 or 12 and to win a division. It doesn't really work in the in-game situation when you absolutely have to prevent the opponent from gaining 35 yards in less than 13 seconds when they have 3 timeouts. All they needed was for us to bend. And oh boy, did Leslie ever bend over. Leslie needs to learn that there's no shame in adjusting your tactics to fit the situation. As Billy Beane said in Moneyball - "My sh!t doesn't work in the playoffs." Edited January 24, 2022 by The Frankish Reich 3 Quote

The coach had the All-Pro safeties lined up 25 yards down the field just to be 'safe'. No guts, no glory. In this case it's 'no guts, historic collapse and humiliation'. Quote

Amazing how far off the ball the DB'S are off the line, that was too easy and Frazier should be fired. You jam on the line and force Mahomes to hold the ball, happened on back to back plays. Quote

I would probably just play their base cover 4 if it were me. They literally could have grabbed and tackled to the ground every single Chief receiver for 2 plays and then let them throw a Hail Mary. Anything but what they did probably would have worked. 1 Quote

njbuff Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 How many more of these type of losses is this team going to give us? They lost all 6 down to the wire games this year for starters. You have the Houston debacle in 2019, Hail Murray, this loss.......... oh heck, I can go on forever. Point is, it feels like they owe championships in spades.😂 3 Quote

I doubt the timeout call was just to let the receivers run free and not to stop the players from reaching the 50 at all cost including a penalty with 13 secs Quote
