Royale with Cheese
Never thought of this but makes sense when you really think about it.

Squats can be dangerous and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the off the field injuries that happen during workouts that we hear about are due to squats. I’ll add on to this with a post earlier in the thread. Football players are notoriously bad weightlifters who lift poorly with a ton of weight. So it’s not a huge surprise that they have less injuries when the put their lumbar spine under less stress. I am curious if a big part of removing squats is removing it from their offseason weights program. Which would be a lot of lifting without the staff being able to keep an eye on how well they are lifting. Most of their lifting most likely happens when nobody is watching. Anecdotally, there was a New Zealand pair (rowing) that removed lifting from their schedule all together and substituted resistance bands and bungees on their boat (creates resistance through the water) and went undefeated for 8 consecutive years.
Royale with Cheese
I’ve never understood max squat lifts. Put something like 225 and do a lot of reps. Straining to get like 450 lbs up once is just asking for injuries.

For instance- treatment for most tendonitis is to strengthen the muscle parallel to the ligament. (I.e. for tennis elbow, you strengthen the forearms; for runner's knee you strengthen the hamstrings; for Achilles issues you strengthen the calves). What do you do for that “bent carrot” thing? Just out of curiosity….

Depends where, on a bar stool isn't too bad.

First, how many other teams don't do squats during the season? Second, maybe a little research would help. He says the Bills don't have any injured starters. They just have injured bench players, like White and Feliciano. The fact remains, the Bills have been one of the healthiest teams in the NFL since McDermott took over so it seems they're on to something.
