SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Has the collapse started? https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33118299/baltimore-ravens-fire-defensive-coordinator-don-martindale-source-says Quote Ravens coach John Harbaugh issued a statement Friday saying he and Martindale "agreed to move forward in separate directions." "We have had a great run on defense, and I am very proud of what has been accomplished and the work he has done," Harbaugh said in his statement. "Don has been a major contributor to the success of our defense since 2012, and especially since he became defensive coordinator four years ago. He has done a great job. Now it is time to pursue other opportunities. Lamar benching? what more is happening 1 3 Quote
jkeerie Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Didn't see that coming. He'll become some new coaches defensive coordinator I expect. 3 1 Quote

The life of a coordinator is fascinating. Martindale went from being a top candidate for a HC job to the unemployment line in the span of 5 months. TheBrownBear Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Geez. Life is tough in the NFL. That defense was destroyed by injuries. Hard to believe you can lose your job with one season like that under extraordinary circumstances. 2 1 Quote

What a ***** show that was. 5 1 1 2 1 Quote

I dont think Lamar is a good QB. He wouldnt even be as good as he was without the Roman system. On the flipside, Roman probably doesnt look that good without a QB like Lamar either. 1 2 Quote

I kind of like the idea of Roman paired with Josh Allen. The run game would always be on point, while Josh at this stage can essentially run the passing game on his own. Quote
ControllerOfPlanetX Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 So much for the Tic-Tac-Dough defense... Quote

Wyobills89 Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 That wink didn't go as planned. I can't see him not hired fairly quick, given the ravens injuries this year. He did pretty good with what he had. Quote

BuffaloBillyG Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Went to their board to see some fan reactions. Something else caught my eyes. Clicked on a "who do you support for this years playoffs" type thread. Baltimore fans OVERWHELMINGLY support our Bills. Most common reasons are that our fans deserve it, we are a classy bunch (not you Filthy B), and because of Josh Allen. https://forum.russellstreetreport.com/showthread.php?222982-Who-you-guys-pulling-for-in-the-playoffs/page4 4 1 Quote
JK Fan Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Martindale took the bullet for Harbaugh. It is just a matter of time now for Harbaugh. Lamar as your QB is not a winning formula going forward. 1 1 Quote

Wink Martindale is a good coach and an original defensive mind IMO, but he has always to my knowledge run a 4-3 D and trend to a physical, press-man type of secondary. So that would be analogous to switching to Rex Ryan's defense the year after Jim Schwartz coached us to the #4 overall defense. Not good. 5 Quote
