Has the collapse started?

Quote

Ravens coach John Harbaugh issued a statement Friday saying he and Martindale "agreed to move forward in separate directions."

"We have had a great run on defense, and I am very proud of what has been accomplished and the work he has done," Harbaugh said in his statement. "Don has been a major contributor to the success of our defense since 2012, and especially since he became defensive coordinator four years ago. He has done a great job. Now it is time to pursue other opportunities.

Ravens were bad on defense but what can you expect with all of their injuries?

The life of a coordinator is fascinating.  Martindale went from being a top candidate for a HC job to the unemployment line in the span of 5 months.  Every opportunity to interview for a HC spot is huge

Wow, that makes sense.

1) Take the DC who took you to 3 straight playoff appearances, #2, #3, #2 defense.

2) Lose Judon in FA and Peters to an ACL (among other injuries)

3) Drop the offense from #13 (18) to #27 (26) in offensive turnovers, dropping the D from 3rd in the league for opponents drive start to 10th

4) The offense decreases almost as much in rank (from #1 to #7 to #17)

5) Fire the DC

Not sure it will help them, but, Harbaugh has been the Ravens HC since 2008 with a W/L record of 137-88, so he's earned the benefit of the doubt I guess

Be interesting if they keep Roman

This is reminiscent of what happened when Rex fired Greg Roman after 2 games (after scoring over 30 points in each of them) in 2016, when Rex should’ve been firing his clown brother. What a ***** show that was.

Yes.  I dont think Lamar is a good QB.  He wouldnt even be as good as he was without the Roman system.  On the flipside, Roman probably doesnt look that good without a QB like Lamar either.

He has a great system for mobile QBs. Did well with Kaepernick too. I kind of like the idea of Roman paired with Josh Allen. The run game would always be on point, while Josh at this stage can essentially run the passing game on his own.

honestly I think the backup Huntley is it? Can do just as good as or be a better passing than Lamar.

Maybe Frasier ends up with the Giants and we make the hire.

Went to their board to see some fan reactions. Something else caught my eyes. Clicked on a "who do you support for this years playoffs" type thread. Baltimore fans OVERWHELMINGLY support our Bills. Most common reasons are that our fans deserve it, we are a classy bunch (not you Filthy B), and because of Josh Allen.

Martindale took the bullet for Harbaugh.  It is just a matter of time now for Harbaugh.  Lamar as your QB is not a winning formula going forward.

TBH, I would truly hope not.  Wink Martindale is a good coach and an original defensive mind IMO, but he has always to my knowledge run a 4-3 D and trend to a physical, press-man type of secondary.  So that would be analogous to switching to Rex Ryan's defense the year after Jim Schwartz coached us to the #4 overall defense.    Not good.
