The main criteria the Texans are using for their coaching search is the answer to the question, "Will you take the  job?"  

If the candidate answers "Yes" he's hired.  

 

No viable candidate would ever consider that job.  The Texans made it even less attractive by firing Culley after one season.

May as well just choose the guy you like personally with no coaching experience at all. I mean, not like any competent hire could turn that dumpster fire around any time soon for at least another couple years. Little to no talent on that team and what little they do have is still likely out the door this off season. About as full rebuild starting this off season as is possible.

McCown is pretty respected league wide. But the issue is he has never coached at any level. They think he can suddenly walk in and be a HC and build a competent staff? Love McCown, but this is just a huge stretch

This is strange, I wonder if the Texans overplayed their hand and moved on from Culley because they thought for sure Flores would want to be there but then possibly declined? (specially because he knows Watson is never playing there again).
