In the 60s fans threw beer bottles, shameful

In recent years our fans put things on players' lawns.

It is an issue in fandom.

14 Seconds left on the play clock and zero timeouts on the 40 yard line and you need a TD to win the game ... I think it'll be a long long time before we see that play call again.

If the Cowboys had gotten the snap off, were they going to spike it or throw it in the end zone ?

They tried to spike it, so the question is moot.

Even if they had gotten the spike off, the Cowboys still needed 40yds 25yds to get to the end zone.

They could have gotten 2 hail-mary's off if Dak wasn't so stupid.

edit: remembered where Dak had started running, not where he slid.

It was a designed play called by the oc. Some have said his comment about trash was said jokingly. I didn’t hear it so I can’t comment.

I remember  beer cans flying at the Rockpile back in the day.

So it wasn’t bad actors throwing them, they just had flying beer bottles and cans. Not much you can do about that! Glad they outlawed the flying beer containers, and probably where the 5-10 cent refund policy came from!  :)

I can’t describe how sick I am about hearing about the Cowboys. They are in a lousy division, and are not worthy of so much hype. It was a stupid call, and they played a lousy, undisciplined game. They deserved to lose, and they did. Get over it.

Additionally - you see the side judge marking the LOS at between the 25 and 26 yard line - where Dak started his slide.

Dak hands the ball to the center and they are lined up at the 24 - not at the right spot.  The Ref tries to move them back, but realizes it isn’t going to work and let’s them try to spike it to get the last play.

The Refs did everything they could on the play to help facilitate getting off the spike because that is what the Refs do, but because Dak did not hand the ball to the Ref and because the OLine lined up with tight splits and finally because they lined up in the incorrect yard mark - you get the issue they had.

It is 100% on Dak, the OC, and the HC that they didn’t get a play off.

The worst part is that should all be ingrained - it was talked about in the post game, by former players and coaches.  The consensus was you need about 17-18 seconds to comfortably get a play off in bounds and get a spike.  The play also can not go more than 10 yards or you are pushing it because of the location of the back judge to spot the ball.

Dak extended it to 15+ yards on the scramble, didn’t hand the ball immediately to the official running to mark it, lined his team up incorrectly, and then blamed the Refs.  Terrible leadership and I hope the NFL fines and suspends him for his comments.  That was disgusting - how he acted.

Ahh didn’t catch it that they lined up on the wrong yard line.  I think they were probably practicing that play for a long time and we’re ‘sure’ they would only need that amount of time for the spike but if they lined up in the wrong spot that is completely on them

I bet one shot from the 25 is a decently higher percentage play than the two Hail Marys.  Looked like the cowboys were well rehearsed in that whole situation and knowing how much time they needed to get the spike off but they forgot to factor the officials in

Not sure why he spent a second picking up the ball and waving it around like a weirdo after all that effort though…I think he just could’ve touched it

Because the O-line was set-up a full yard plus in front of where the side judge marked him down.

If you watch the play - Dak starts his slide before the 26 yard line - you see pellets and his foot mark.  The side judge marks that as his down point.

Dak and the o-line set up on the 24 yard line.  The official reaches in and tries to move the ball back (he actually can’t get the ball far enough - you see him reaching for the 25), but with the o-line and Dak in the way - he relents and moves it forward again and then has to move it out of the way.  The official does the best to do his job quickly, but he can’t because of the poor job the Cowboys did.

If you watch the side judge - he realizes what is happening tries moving to the new spot because he has to mark the LOS.

Dak and the O-line were set incorrectly - again all on Dak at that point.

Contrast that to if Dak had stood up and tossed the ball to that Ref coming up - he could have placed the ball on the 26 without having to fight through the line and got it set and moved out of the way and saved maybe 2 seconds.  Even as it was they weren’t all set - the Refs could of just as easily thrown a flag and finished the game with a 10 second run off, but the clock had expired.
