With sports betting now legal in NY, what's the point? You can bet using your phone as you chug beer in the parking lot.

You could bet on your phone long before even what your talking about, so whats the point of anything

Billions of dollars have been gambled illegally for many decades.

I was once on a Grand Jury where we indicted a bookie.  They played tapes of him taking bets.  The funniest one was from a degenerate gambler who sounded like he'd bet on anything.  When he made his bet on some obscure college the bookie told him "If you can tell me where that college is, I'll pay you right now."

Calling some bookie isn't even in the same realm as having an entire sportsbook at your fingertips.

The Bills did not indicate that they were adding a Canadian Ballet lounge.

On a more serious note, it’s hard to believe the NFL has so comfortably cozied up with betting.  As others have indicated it is probably only a matter of time before some noteworthy scandal arises.

There’s so much money at stake in the NFL I’m sure there is plenty of seedy behavior already.  The official cozying up of the NFL and the gambling industry will certainly lead to greater issues.

Yes, keep wasting your money on odds that aren't ever in your favor.  Bet bet bet, you'll hit the jackpot (guess all the right stats or whatever) one of these years!

What if someone likes to do it.  He can't do what he likes, because you dont like it?

Never said an individual isn't allowed to do it.  Sorry if your feelings are hurt over criticism

No I wouldn't vote to make it illegal, wth?  People have a right to be lost in the vices of their choosing. Prohibition of any kind doesn't work

That makes sense and good to hear

There are many people out there who like to vote against someone else's freedoms, I inferred too quickly you were one of those. if you simply think its stupid, thats fine.

You know what this tells me?

The new Stadium will be called Apollo Field, Caesars Stadium, or Yahoo Stadium. Caesars Palace and related properties, along with Yahoo are all owned by The Apollo Group. They're making inroads with the Pegula's.

Will Cleo(the Queen) be performing at halftime ?

In short, yes.  Having the veil of decency walled off things like this from happening.  Not a great thing for young kids when it's all shamelessly out there.

The key is to take your kids on a trip to a casino at 2am once a year. Best gambling prevention campaign you will ever undertake.

Wonder when the first football betting scandal occurs, and who will be the first scoundrel; a player, coach, referee. Any guesses?

All three.  First scandal not buried will be collaboration and likely it will not be a reporter but gambling interest person who exposes it.

F*CK the NFL and their climbing into bed with gambling.  Its gonna ruin everything.

at the end of the day, it’s about maximizing profits for the nfl (a non profit lol) and the owners. Winning and fandom is secondary.
