I was at the Raiders game as a kid.  I remember the drunks in front of us each smuggling in a 12 pack in their sleeves and pants - It was genius level at the time.

My memories were my dad buying us coffee to hold between our legs, using the carboard carriers to lift our feet off the snow, and "Midnight Train to Georgia" playing when it was all said and done.

Guess what - we survived.  I still have all of my fingers and toes, and it's one of my favorite memories with my dad.

Yes...this was already talked about in the weather thread

We have but this type of cold is relatively rare here.

In the upper Midwest this is average temps or maybe even a little above average. Land is a poor insulator, the lake keeps us much warmer than surrounding areas inland.

The crew on ESPN (Get UP) this morning keeps pointing out that Josh Allen has very poor numbers in cold weather... Allen's QBR below 32 degrees is the 2nd lowest of any QB in the last 15 years, only ahead of Tim Tebow.  Anyway, a good chance for Josh to squash that narrative.

Extremely small sample size and most of those involve wind conditions which are much more of a factor in the passing game.

That’s what the buffoons on those morning sports shows do best!!

Weather Channel just said the temperature at kickoff will be 7 degrees, with light winds.....let’s go Bills!!!

We need a weather sub-forum here.

In the latter time of the season, it honestly wouldn't be a bad idea.

There have been constant updates and lively discussions in various weather threads for a good 3 weeks now.

Don't know if anyone posted this.  If you put hand warmers on your wrists (where you'd take your pulse) it dilates the vessels and increases blood flow to the finger tips, keeping your fingers warm.

Hot sauce on the testicles does the same thing. Effective when combined with Viagra.

Don't be fooled---when it's -5 wind chill at kick off, and worse than that as the game goes on, it will be more difficult to throw and catch as well.  The ball gets slippery and is hard as a brick.  QBs have to adjust their hand position to throw in those temps, which is not ideal.

It isn't going to be like throwing in a 40 mph wind, but throwing won't be normal.

This thread is great. I love the old war stories. 14 degrees is the coldest game I ever attended. You guys are animals.

The coldest experience I have ever had in that stadium is New Orleans at Buffalo, December 10, 1989.

Google says the weather was: 26 degrees, relative humidity 68%, wind 13 mph, wind chill 15

My dad and I were sitting outside a few rows in front of my dad's employer's box for the first half.  I was well bundled up (I would have been 18 years old) but was FREEZING MY ASS OFF the entire game.

At halftime, my dad said "let's go inside the box just to warm up" and I think that literally saved my life.  We went in there, talked to some folks, ate chicken fingers and other foods that were laid out, and ended up staying in there for the entire second half.

If we hadn't had that warmth to retreat to, I would have been seriously cold by the end of the game.

It was snowing all game and they were sort of "snow blowing" snow off the yard markers during TV time outs so you could see where the heck the ball was.

We lost too!

It's going to be a LOT colder than that on Saturday night which really puts it in perspective for me.

Good luck to everyone out there!  You will need it.

It's funny,  the board acts like we've never experienced cold before.

This game isn't just going to be another cold game.

It's going to be the second coldest game in 49 years...

Somehow this point is lost on people around here.

Wear at least two more layers than you think you need.  I live in South Dakota and I've attended local football games in weather like this.  If you are chilly walking around on your way to the stadium, you are going to get very cold when you're sitting still in the stands.  Fingers and toes need special attention.  My game plan would be something like this:

Torso: compression shirt, t-shirt, t-shirt, long-sleeve t-shirt, long-sleeve t-shirt, light pullover, fleece pullover, parka.  avoid cotton for base layers at least.

Legs: insulated running tights (or long underwear if you're not a runner), fleece-lined jeans

Feet: light running socks, another pair of heavier tube-style socks, insulated boots

Hands: light liner-style gloves, heavy insulated mittens (mittens are infinitely warmer than gloves)

Head: the warmest thing that covers your head, plus a gaiter or something for your face*

* Be advised that this will probably freeze by the end of the first quarter, so there's that.

That is a lot of layers. I guess its better to have too many and take some off then not have enough, right?

Question for those who have been recently to the stadium:  Is there a heated public area you can retreat to in order to warm up on a cold day?

The last time I was there (every game I've been to) there was NOT such a place.  You don't think about that until you are there and freezing your ass off and realize there isn't a place to go get warm in.

Have any of the stadium improvements over the years created such a place?

I was at the coldest game. Just like OP, our beer froze. We had to put it next to a fire to thaw it out. This tailgate will be toasty. We're bringing a box trailer, generator, electric heaters, propane heater, canopy, fire pit/wood and a TV.

Again ... layers. I like to keep one final layer I put on just before going into the game. I also change my socks before going in the game. New trick I heard is to spray your feet with anti-perspirant to keep them from sweating. Make sure your hands, feet and head are covered. I use a balaclava for my head/neck. I have good gloves, but I also am bringing a muff and a battery hand warmer. Some regular chemical hand warmers too.

Be careful with electric clothing. It's prohibited in the stadium.

This is us at the 94 game.

No, but going into the concourses does help

I always stay just slightly cold during the tailgate & walk to the game, then have one final layer to put on in the stadium

Yes, take the weather serious. This weather is dangerous. Be able to cover all your skin. You'll lose the most heat from your head and you'll feel it the most in your feet and hands.

Bathroom. Hold your hands under the free hot stream.

Edit: men’s room if you identify as such.

Maybe without a dome we should change the name from Buffalo Bills to Orchard Park Moose.
