He may want one but I doubt he receives an offer and interviews are just part of the obligation process. I personally would love to be wrong because the BILLS would receive a compensatory pick and perhaps have an opportunity to upgrade the position. Plenty of HC's that were fired that could make very good defensive coordinators. I still believe Brian Dabol has much better chance of being hired. Both younger & not considered a retread HC as Frazier Quote
CNYfan Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 I think Frazier has a chance in Chicago, but unfortunately I agree that this looks like a Rooney Rule interview. Miami have to be looking Offense at this point with Tua at the crossroads. Quote

Fans who think coaches will turn down HC opportunities to stay as coordinators are whistling in the wind. That is exceptionally rare. Dick LeBeau, Josh McDaniels. That is my list of guys who have done it. McDaniels will be out of there once his 4 kids are out of high school IMO. It appears to me he is staying with Pats for family reasons, which are good reasons. Quote

I don't think there is some prior agreement for him to replace Bill or anything but I do think the Kraft family love him. The issue McDaniels has landing a job anywhere else is what he did to the Colts has really left a bad taste. He has only had two interviews in the three offseasons since. There will be teams willing to take that chance but there will be others who would not touch him with a barge pole. Quote
PetermansRedemption Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Why doesn’t the NFL put a stop to this? Coaches should not be interviewing during the season. Completely unnecessary distraction. 1 Quote
T master Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 All HC ing interviews should be after the entire season is over ! Sure there are those that aren't in the play offs that could do interviews which would be fine but to make it fair they should wait until every important game is over & done .. IMHO . Quote

Completely unnecessary distraction. Indeed they expanded it so some coaches were interviewing for jobs last week even before the regular season ended. The reason is the all star games and the draft timetable. If you didn't allow interviews until after the Superbowl it would put new staffs at a huge disadvantage in terms of the draft and hiring a staff etc. You'd have to move the whole calendar around and there just isn't enough time. One alternative I have considered is having a complete bye week between the end of the regular season and the beginning of the playoffs. That way you could give hiring teams a 7 day window between black monday and the following monday to interview as many candidates as they see fit. But from then on no further interviews of guys on playoff teams. Not sure that is perfect either but delaying it all further into January isn't an option IMO. Miami needs to hire the best guy no matter what side of the ball his roots are on. Edited January 13, 2022 by Beast 1 Quote
foreboding Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 (edited) If you were Leslie Frazier, would you want to face Josh Allen twice a year? Edited January 13, 2022 by foreboding Quote

So maybe it just happens that two of their preferred candidates are black? 1 Quote
