All I Need is Hope Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 I read that if a minority position coach is hired by another team as their head coach, that the team receiving the minority coach has to give up 2 third round picks for the next two years. Is this accurate and still the rule? Sorry if already covered in the Frazier to Chicago thread. Quote

However, these picks are awarded/created after the end of the third round, before the 4th round. They are not penalized from the other team. The hiring team does not need to give up a pick to hire, they are league awarded. 5 Quote
Momma Pecoraro Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 (edited) If the minority is the consensus choice of the majority in the hiring organization then third rounders are in play. Edited January 12, 2022 by Momma Pecoraro Quote

Joe Mama Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 Another question -- if the Cheats sign Flores as an assistant through the playoffs, and he gets a HC job, will THEY get the 3rd rounders? 1 1 Quote

Nextmanup Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 It's complicated, but essentially, because Pegula owns two sports teams in the same city, no, we don't get the picks. 1 Quote
Max Fischer Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 From what I heard, it's a 3rd in 2022 and a 3rd in 2023. Quote
LABILLBACKER Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 So if we lose both Frazier and Dabol, we get 4 late 3rd round picks? Wow Quote

bigK14094 Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 Doesn't matter how many 3ds we accumulate, Beane will just trade them away to move up two places in the draft because he gets nervous. Quote
