Bass is 28 of 32 this year (with Haack) and 28 of 44 last year (with Bojo). Not much difference. Hey Einstein do the math, this year 87.5%, last year 63.6%. That’s a big difference, in fact it’s a 23.9% difference. Quote
muppy Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 yeah well its an interesting fly on the wall type comment regarding their thoughts on Haack. Being a mentor, good holder and a good locker room guy VS game production. Knowing this makes me aware that they likely hold more stock in he than the fanbase at this point. based on the intangibles. But yeah I also find that hard to believe. I think it would be idiotic for his job to not at least be in question moving forward. If he whiffs many more punts Im guessing so-long Matt Haack. *shrugs* Quote

Brianmoorman4jesus Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 I have never seen a team that values special teams enough to waste all of these game day roster spots on guys that can ONLY play STs…you can not waste a spot on a guy that can just hold and use another guy to punt. Make Trubitsky the holder, or a WR if you are going to use the other punter. I don’t care how great Haak is as a holder. If he can’t punt, you can’t waste a spot. Other guys can hold if need be but someone needs to punt. A hell of alot better then last weekend. 1 Quote

BuffaloBillyG Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 Just don't punt. Problem solved. 2 1 1 Quote
mushypeaches Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 The whole freaking team better be aware that Belichick is gunning for a punt block this week. He's the alpha shark smelling blood in the water and Haack + cold = Chum 1 Quote

34-78-83 Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 Did anyone else notice that during Haack's struggles the other day, he was attempting the "Aussie" style punts for those 3 awful attempts? He then switched to the more traditional "Reggie Roby" style spiral punts and they cut right threw that wind for his final 2 (I think it was 2...) punts. I found that very interesting. Quote
TheFunPolice Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 (edited) A truly great punter is a huge weapon for your team. I'd draft him in the 3rd round. He can also kick if needed, which is enormous. It's not common, but kickers do pull something or get hurt during a game, and if that's a playoff game you could be in big trouble if your punter isn't a good kicker, which most are not. This is actually a really interesting philosophical discussion. How high would you draft a punter? What if you thought you could be drafting the greatest punter of all time? What is that worth? A guy who can flip field position, kick well when needed, bring passion and energy, get you out of trouble by booming punts out of your own end, and consistently pin the other team deep for your defense to go to work could theoretically be a big reason you win a game or two a season. I might go as high as a low 1st rounder if I think I'm getting a once in a lifetime punter, as crazy as that sounds. I think that helps the team in an immediate and tangible way more than a guard there, for example. Edited January 12, 2022 by TheFunPolice 1 Quote

That being said Bills need to find a punter that can punt and hold. Edited January 12, 2022 by chris heff Quote
