Looks like he took one in the head. That said, I think the biggest take away from this thread is that Beasley seems to be losing support amongst some of the posters here. That is certainly indicative of nothing but the fall off of his play. He’s not that expensive next season, but he could certainly be a cap casualty when the Bills go looking for space in March. Quote

McDermott just kept walking because both he and Cole (and everyone else on the sidelines) knows McDermott is right. Get off the field with some urgency! No big deal, really. Yep this is at least plausible explanation for the video clip. And I'm sure you don't run up $100K in protocol fines during the year without being a source of irritation to your head coach so it wouldn't be surprising if McDermott was a bit irked with Beasley still being on the field when the team was already lined up to punt. All the covid stuff aside........it's just Beasley being Beasley. He was beloved in Dallas but when he got a top dollar slot-WR contract from Buffalo to leave......he went out of his way to take totally unnecessary shots at the organization/team and then fought with the fans on social media etc.. And that's his home town. That was a red flag right there that he can turn on his own people fast. 2 Quote

Coach Tuesday Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 According to Football Outsiders, Beasley declined from 2020-2021 more than any other WR in the league. “Biggest Decline: Cole Beasley, BUF From humble slot receiver to … whatever he is now. Beasley caught exactly 82 balls in both 2020 and 2021, but his yardage fell from 967 to 693, his average gain from 11.8 to 8.5, his touchdowns from four to one, and his DYAR from 267 (12th) to -47 (86th).” (Don’t bother the Truthers with facts, though…) 4 Quote

He fumbles a playoff game away and you will be destroyed by the "we all saw thay coming" crowd. All coaches, but especially defensive minded coaches like McDermott, HATE offensive players that turn the ball over. And McKenzie does not protect the ball. Never has. https://predominantlyorange.com/2018/07/26/denver-broncos-isaiah-mckenzie-fumble-issues/ How many fumbles has McKenzie had this year? Two. Now how many of them were NOT on kick returns? How many fumbles did McKenzie have in 2020? Zero. 2019? Zero? How many fumbles did McKenzie have in 2018? Two. Now how many of them were NOT on kick returns? How many fumbles did McKenzie have in 2017 as a Bronco rookie? Six. Now how many of them were NOT on kick returns? So, that's a total of 10 fumbles. How many were NOT on kick returns? That would be zero, in his whole career. All of his fumbles have come on special teams. McKenzie doesn't have a fumbling problem. He has a FUMBLING WHILE FIELDING AND RETURNING KICKS problem. Not a single fumble on runs or receptions. So yeah, don't have him return kicks anymore. I think they've already figured that out last week. But he protects the ball just fine when running or catching the ball. 2 Quote
Slippery Rubber Mats Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 He hasn't been a factor this year, which is a shame. He looks hurt, slow, and angry. Time to move on. Quote

He's still very good at finding holes in zones and settling into them. But in man-to-man situations, he can't find space like he used to. He's lost a step. Or two. 2 1 Quote

Last year he was playing out of his mind so maybe its slightly unfair to compare his current performance to the absolute best he has ever played but thats the bar. This is obvious to everyone but the few in this thread who think Beas is some kind of folk hero and will now defend him to the point of absurdity. The offense moves the ball more efficiently when McKenzie stays on the field. 4 4 1 Quote

He doesnt have that extra bit to grab the ball before the stick and get passed them. I would start Beasley Saturday night. At the first sign of man i go to Mckenzie. He was a guy who gave them a ton of problems. 3 1 Quote

He actually had a "vintage" Beasley conversion early in the Jets game......but he has come up short of the sticks over and over this year. Last year he was getting some RAC. They weren't a good RAC team in 2020 either but the WR corps is really lousy wrt RAC this year. 5 Quote

TheFunPolice Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 (edited) Cole is entitled to his own opinions, and I respect that, and in and of itself that's not a big deal to me. However, he has caused quite the stir this season AND something just seems off with him. His going at the fans for "booing him" when he catches the ball (which I don't think is what is happening) coupled with how he took so many shots at Dallas after leaving there makes me think he feels wronged somehow here and it is affecting his attitude and his play. He could just be hurt, frustrated, and now feeling like he's being attacked or not appreciated here because of the Covid stuff. He's a tough dude and a very good slot WR, and we need him dialed in to win a Super Bowl. I will say this in defense of Cole: regardless of the noise, the guy catches just about everything thrown near him. Edited January 11, 2022 by TheFunPolice 1 Quote

Is he as good of a route runner as Beasley? Does he understand option routes the same way? You can’t just plug and play one small light skinned dude for another. Braxton Barrios is GARBAGE. Beasley is certainly slower than he was last season, but he’s reliable. And as an outlet on 3rd and long, that’s what you need. That’s all he is here for, and that’s all he was ever here for. I was made aware of that after I was roasted on here after his first season, because I wasn’t drinking the Cole Kool Aid. He’s fiery and opinionated, and people here don’t like that… so naturally the fans here want him gone. Lord knows his “distractions” have hampered this team all season. Braxton Berrios… Why? Because Braxton Berrios a good player. You seem to have missed that. Doesn't quite compare to prime Beasley. But neither does today's Beasley. And Berrios is a good kick returner, for KOs and punts. More, Berrios has ... A slightly higher Yards per Reception number and a significantly higher one for this year A drop percentage of 0% this year (ProFootballReference) compared to 3.6% for Beasley. A career (2019 - 2021) drop %age of 3.0%, compared to Beasley's 3.7% over the same period all in Buffalo (ProFootballReference) Significantly better YAC per reception than Beasley each of the last three years A significantly better passer rating for his QB on throws to him this year than to Beasley, though Beasley was better in 2019 and 2012 before he lost that step A much higher TD/target figure ... and he accomplished all that while Beasley was being thrown to by Josh Allen, while Berrios ... was not. Think having Allen throwing to him might improve his numbers a bit? Again, he returns kicks. And as for fiery and opinionated, I don't give a crap. I don't think many fans do. I do admit that I don't like selfish and entitled, willing to pay fines for risking teammate health consistentl, and consistently being on social media causing controversy even after promising he wouldn't. I also don't like that Beasley's clearly lost a step or two and a great deal of his effectiveness against man coverage. Edited January 11, 2022 by Thurman#1 1 1 Quote

BADOLBILZ Posted January 11, 2022 Author Posted January 11, 2022 I'd be a fan of adding Braxton Berrios. A good draft strategy for the last decade is invest late round picks in Miami Hurricanes...........they've been poorly coached so a lot of very talented players end up under-drafted. 2 1 Quote

716er Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Berrios is alright but why settle there when you can get a younger and better (the BEST) slot guy in Godwin? Now that we have a stud like Josh, recruiting a guy like Godwin should not be off the table. Beane loves a big splash, too Quote
