HappyDays Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 ...there might be a must-watch Sunday Night Football game. 2 11 3 2 Quote
Nextmanup Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 (edited) That would really be a strange situation. In the NHL, teams "play for a tie" all the time when the score is tied and there is maybe 5 minutes left in the game. No one does anything risky, it's all defense, and no one is trying to score, so they both get the 1 point for tying and then they can try their luck for a second point in OT. I can see a pair of NFL teams playing in that manner, in theory. Very vanilla football, shooting for a 0-0 tie! That would be crazy. Edited January 3, 2022 by Nextmanup Quote
Mailman Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Not happening but interesting nonetheless 1 2 1 1 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 That would be amazing. Would love Tom hear the commentary. Maybe they can bring in Antonio Brown as a color commentator 1 Quote

Charles Romes Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Madden’s Raiders in 1976 had a chance late in the season to retain the #1 seed and jettison the Steelers from playoffs. The two time defending champion Steelers were the hottest team in NFL history at the time, yielding a total of 28 points over 9 games. All Madden needed to do was lose to the Bengals and the Steelers would be gone. Instead Madden blew out the Bengals and then the Steelers in the AFC championship game. The point is, you play to win the game. 4 2 Quote
Process Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Omg. I want to see this happen almost as much as I want to see the Bills win the Superbowl. 2 1 1 Quote
Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 If the Colts lose, the Jags should be awarded a wildcard playoff berth because of plucky play in games that mean something for team pride, e.g., Buffalo and Indy. (Hums the tune for 'The Battle Hymn of the Republic'.) 1 Quote
Steptide Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't the seeding matter? 1 Quote
BuffaloRebound Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 I know we all love Frank Reich, but if he misses the playoffs with that stacked roster he deserves to be on hot seat. 2 Quote

The Chargers would have the upper hand as they're currently seeded seventh to the Raiders eight. So presumably the Chargers would move up to seven and the Raiders eight. But if both go 9-7-1 and the Steelers beat the Ravens wouldn't they come into play? Quote

They could do that again, with both team kneeling on every play and sell the recording on QVC and the Home Shopping Network as a cure for insomnia! Think of the money that could be made! Let there be SLEEP! Quote

According to the playoff machine it doesn't matter. Probably some other conference tiebreakers involved there. The Raiders and Chargers are both in no matter what if the Colts lose and their game ends in a tie. 1 Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Colts wont lose to the Jags. No self-respecting team loses to the Jags. 😑 1 1 6 Quote

He needs a franchise QB in the worst way. Rivers and Wentz are big names, but they're not it. Quote
