Just for reference, the offense really improved when he moved up to the booth.

I actually want the Bills to get away from Josh running. He is going to get hit enough with sacks, pressures, knockdowns. No reason for him to take extra hits. That stuff will catch up to him like it did Cam Newton. I hope Josh can be the QB for the Bills for the next 15 years or so. That isn't going to happen if they keep using him this way.

gotta do what it takes year in and year out. Hopefully next year they can go away from the designed runs, but its a needed part of his game right now.

It’s a needed part of his game because the offensive line and run scheme have been bad. He can make literally every throw, the reason we run Allen so much is because we are deficient elsewhere.

Yes it won't change this year and it shouldn't. But long term it has to. They can't have him being the focal point of the run game. If its Singletary, someone else, building a stronger OL that can improve the run game with a RB doing the running. Whatever it takes they need to eventually get away from these designed plays with Josh running.

Question for you: If the Bills win a Super Bowl by using more designed qb runs as a key part of the offense, but Josh was looking like a worn-down Ben Roethlisberger at age 37, would you take the trade-off? Understanding that the qb runs don’t guarantee a SB, but they have been a driving factor in the team’s offensive success.

Yes, if the Bills win the Super Bowl.

It's so weird to see Bills fans begging for the team to stop running Josh Allen when he averages 7 yards per rush, is the team's best running threat, and has scored 30 rushing TDs in four seasons. Not to mention the fact that his legs seem to be the only way out of the offensive slumps this team sometimes finds itself in.

I understand that we want to keep the guy healthy, but the answer, in my mind, is for him to learn to slide. It is NOT to take away one of the best offensive weapons on our team and ask a guy with that kind of God-given running ability to just stop running. Why take away one of the most deadliest modes of attack that your offense has?

Josh needs to learn to slide and slide often. Russell Wilson has done this effectively for YEARS. The answer is NOT to just stop using the potent weapon that is Josh's running ability.

In the Playoffs, certain high profile games and in the Red Zone - I am completely fine running Josh Allen year in/year out.

What I hope we fix for next year, and moving forward, would be the need to run him 10-15 times against teams like Atlanta in the regular season.

I see where you're coming from and I somewhat agree.

The only caveat I'll mention is that they sort of DID save his running for "must-have" games. It wasn't until later in the season, about the Bucs game -- which was pretty crucial at the time -- when all else was not working on offense, that they went to the "break glass in case of emergency" QB runs and Josh started running wild. In my mind, Josh's running HAS been pulled out only during offensive slumps or must-win games this year.

While the Falcons may not be a very talented opponent, the game itself was a must-win. They were down at half-time, and a loss would've meant giving the AFC East back to the Patriots. I agree with the basic notion that it would be nice if he didn't have to run against inferior opponents, but if we're talking strictly about the importance of the games themselves, the Falcons game (and the Pats game before it) were huge.

Again, I'd just love it if the big guy would learn to slide. He was doing a good job of it early in the year, but seems to have at some point said "***** it, I'm barreling into defenders for an extra two yards every time". I'm not sure why. Save that extra effort for must-have downs and big moments in the game, but otherwise...SLIDE!!!!

It seems like Josh takes bigger hits in the pocket than he does when he runs.

Is it just me or when he runs he only really has big contact when he initiates it, and that is usually against smaller guys in the secondary.  If he is going to get licked by a lineman or linebacker he hits the sideline.  The biggest contact he takes might actually be from the ground when he decides to dive or hurdle guys...

Yup. 100% why I said its needed right now. So use him that way. Maybe next year and in future years, the line and run game are good enough on their own. But it isnt right now.

It did really feel like Josh was sliding more at the start of the season, but as the running game failed to materialize and things got tighter he just stopped taking it easy.

Qb run game cant last forever.  I dont even want to see a Qb sneak Sunday.  In the playoffs everything is on the table.  If have to go full Baltimore style with Allen rushing 20 times to win a game Im fine with it.  Do whatever they can to win.  I dont want it to be a staple of the team or offense moving forward.  After the Carolina run they leaned on it too much with Cam.

That's why its imperative we improve the OL. That's why we need to find someone more compelling than a decent Singletary.  It's only a matter of time when Josh gets popped and is out for the season. Improving the line allows Josh to continue refining his pocket game. People forget part of this " hero ball" is his legs. I'm still 100% convinced a dome would only enhance his skillset. But it's too exhausting fighting with the diehards. Let's see what happens. Maybe some really smart engineers will build an open stadium that can drastically minimize the wind. This team needs to find one identify and stick with it.

I was going to say, Josh's biggest hits are when he is scrambling BEHIND the line of scrimmage.  He is running away and doesn't see a guy track him down.  For the most part, QBs are pretty well protected in the pocket these days.  Where Kelly would have had his knees blown out, high and low hits are now flagged.  Most of the time DE/DTs just two hand push down QBs now in the pocket.  Still would hurt, but better than having a 280lb man run full speed into your knees with your legs planted.  When Josh is running, he is also a threat to the little DBs that stand in his way, and they know it.  In one of his runs this week he stiff armed a DE and then planted a shoulder in the DB trying to stop him.
