PromoTheRobot Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 USFL is relaunching this spring and the XFL is supposed to restart in 2023. Both have discussed new cities. How would a spring football team do in Buffalo? These teams are mostly in warm weather cities. But since we don't care about bad weather in Buffalo, how would a team do here? 20K would be considered very good attendance. Do we love football (and tailgating) enough to do it in the spring too? ExiledInIllinois Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Yes. Spring weather is actually nicer than late fall. Lake effect mostly in November/December... 1 Quote
mannc Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 As the Bills are preparing for a huge home game, and gearing up for a deep playoff run, I’m sure this idea is on a lot of people’s minds here at TSW. Well done… 5 1 1 Quote

BigDingus Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 I don't live there, but I honestly think despite the size, they'd be able to support an MLB or NBA team too. Yeah, I know they had an NBA team for a few years decades ago, & they tried to lure an MLB team, but they got screwed both times. At the very least, they'd put up better attendance numbers than the Marlins & Rays in my opinion lol 2 Quote
RiotAct Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 I’d support it, but wouldn’t watch or attend, if that makes any sense. 1 4 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 I'd watch out of curiosity and at least give it a chance to capture my attention. Smartest thing they could do is sign Duke Williams, Antonio Williams and Christian Wade. Bills fans would show up in droves. 2 4 2 2 Quote

WNY doesn't have anything close to the financial power to support major league sports teams in the 21st century. It's a miracle we have what we have, and if they leave, they won't come back. 1 hour ago, Einstein said: No. I have zero interest in pro football leagues outside of the NFL. That even includes the CFL, which I have nothing against...but I also have no interest in it. I think a big part of the excitement of NFL season is knowing it's short and it doesn't exist most of the year. Makes it more special--kind of like summer time when you live in WNY! 3 2 Quote
Buffalo_Stampede Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 If there were a minor league Buffalo Bills team full of Bills prospects definitely. But a team with no affiliation to the Bills then no. 1 Quote
SirAndrew Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 No, the on field product with this type of leagues is just too weak for me. I know some people love it, because it gives an off season football fix, but I just can’t follow. D1 football always seems better quality than pro football leagues. The original USFL might be the only exception. 2 Quote
Big Turk Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Probably not. This isn't back in the day when they were competing with the NFL for talent and actually taking some of it's stars. These are dudes that aren't good enough for the NFL. Quote
Robert Paulson Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 no- this league is for mid size college football towns in the Midwest and south Quote

PetermansRedemption Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 No chance this team would be sufficiently supported. For comparable attendance, look at UB Football. That’s the appetite for secondary football in WNY, that’s the attendance a USFL or XFL team would garner here. Quote

NewEra Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 I’d root for them. I watch/dvr the games. I might even buy a jersey/gear if it’s dope. 1 Quote
