BillsPride12
I know we've already done this with Guitar players and Drummers before but don't think we've done Vocals yet Robert Plant Chris Cornell Scott Weiland Billy Corgan(I know this won't be a popular choice and won't be on many top 4 lists but I'm ok with it, always thought he had a very unique voice for rock/alternative music) I love classic Rock but the 90s era had some phenomenal Singers in my opinion

WhoTom
Roger Daltrey Janis Joplin Freddie Mercury Jerry Garcia I know Jerry is more noted for his guitar playing, but over the past 25 years, as I listen to other singers perform Dead songs, I've come to realize that Jerry's vocals don't get enough recognition. Like Daltrey, he put himself into the role of the character portrayed in the song. He didn't have Daltrey's power, but the emotions came through nonetheless.
qwksilver
Another good topic.... My opinion of a great rock singer has to have power, range and a some rasp. Mine are in no particular order: Chris Cornell Freddie Mercury Sebastian Bach Sammy Hagar Honorable Mention David Draiman

cwater10
Only 4 is an impossible ask. Best shot: -- John Lennon -- David Bowie -- Jerry Garcia (wan't to say to no Jerry, but c'mon... it's Jerry and he's damn near family for a reason!) -- Eddie Vedder Honorable Mention and excruciating omissions: Roger Daltry, Aretha, Freddie Mercury, and Peter Gabriel. If I was going to pick a Dead singer it would be the original frontman Ron "Pigpen" McKernan. Jerry and Bob were OK singers but as you mentioned the Dead were more known for the jamming anyway.
