Jordan Poyer apparently ran off the field saying “Where’s Jerry Sullivan at,” promoting Sullly to respond:

Turns out he was right.  Bruce was not up for Sully’s questioning and he responds with this hilarious blistering of Sully.  Just know there’s a few curse words below:

Wow, he was even less hansom in 1997 than he is now.

He’s an award winning columnist. Hate him if you must, but the man can turn a phrase. Not sure he cares what players think of his abilities. Yeah, he was overall negative during twenty years of drought era football here - shocking.

He's a local hack - nothing more.  The guy doesn't provide any insight and he's obnoxious as hell.

So Jerry Sullivan took a shot at the defense. Poyer and Hyde were naturally upset and IMO reasonably perturbed because they are literally a top 5 defense. Poyer on an insane adrenaline high calls out Sullivan’s uncalled for question from the previous game. Sullivan sends a snarky tweet disregarding their contribution in this big win.

I think Sullivan crossed the line somewhat and deserved to be called out. Allen was AMAZING but the D did their part. Thanks for listening 😛

Seriously, Sully was and is a writer who leans to the outrageous side, but he is talented and not a schill. He wrote during an era where the Bills ad dollars controlled radio and print.

Today Bulldog is weak, Schoop is an idiot who wants to talk cards, Sal Joe etc lean very heavy to the positive every day.

Jerry survived when Dickerson couldn't, who went way too far and personal.

Every town and team needs a Jerry.

Bruce Smith would have broken every bone in Jerry's body. When you are Bruce Smith you just grin, and keep those thoughts in your mind.

He didn’t need to, he just told him to shut the F up while everyone in the locker room laughed at Sully.  It was great

Sullivan is a talented writer.  I always liked his stuff about golf and other topics.  But with the Bills and Sabres he felt it was cool to try and insult everyone.  He and Graham made themselves part of the story, and that was wrong.  Back in the day Felser, Peters, Northrop could all be very critical without making it personal.  Guys like Sullivan go out of their way to make it personal.

Part of Sully's pov is that he should be able to insult and degrade players and coaches if the team isn't performing because they get paid so much.

As if making things personal and being insulting is the same thing as real criticism. It's not.

Correct.  I think we all agree that the Gregggggggg Williams coaching regime here was a total abortion.  And yet, Sully went on (and on and on and on and on) about how these "teachers" couldn't get a Rob Johnson-led team to the playoffs in 2001.  Well, duh.  Not even the Ghost of Drew Bledsoe could help in 2002 or 2003 under the same regime.  Sully "tells it like it is" to the extent we believe that he understands what he's seeing, or that he's even watching at all.  At some point he's just a destitute man's Dan Shaughnessy, and you can't even make a career of carping about the Curse of the Bambino when it comes to the Buffalo Bills.

The problem with Jerry, as I see it, is that he knows his job is to ask provocative questions to get sports players to say interesting things, but he has no idea how to do it intelligently and empathetically, which is how you get to the really interesting and insightful stuff.

He uses cheap shot questions while exuding the smugness of someone who gets satisfaction from poking the bear just enough to get a response, no matter how little it adds to the conversation. Reading his work is like eating empty calories.

Reading his work is like taking a road trip on the NYS Thruway and buying a bag of Combos "for the road".  They taste good going down, but...
