jethro_tull Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 (edited) The Bills have had legitimate chances to win each of their last critical games vs. the Patriots and Bucs. Red zone issues continued to be a big reason why they lost. Since the Bills lack a true power running game this adds to the problem. The traditional 20 yard red zone seems too "compressed" for the passing game because of a lack or field space to spread out and get open. The defense will typically rush 4 unless it's third down. Rushing 4 lineman leaves too many defenders against the pass in the defensive back field- very clogged with defensive bodies per square yard. An alternate idea would be for the team to expand the red zone (mentally) by 10 to 20 yards. Once past the opponents 40 yard line could be considered the red zone. At that point each play should target the end zone. The additional 20 yards of vertical space would allow for a much more open playing field for the receivers.
