With how well McD is usually prepared, I would be very surprised if he didn't already have this situation prepared for ahead of time.

someone told him that dozens of spare DL gives him his best chance at an emergency kicker

Yesterday made me think they ought to have an emergency kicker in the stands every game like an emergency goalie in hockey.

You can’t be “in the stands”.  You have to be on the active roster and dressed.

I still can’t believe a single player on the Panthers line up was not the team kicker in high school

PJ Walker actually was but apparently has lost all of that ability over the years based on his attempt after Zane went down.

I guess Pj Walker was one in HS but he was bad in emergency try-outs. Their punter was an aussie rules guy so he had no PK experience. Just a bad situation

If I were a kicker struggling to make a team  i'de practice long snapping. A long snapper that can kick would always have a roster spot.

Or a 3rd string level QB work on kicking

Long snappers, 3rd QB, players... what about the PUNTER practicing field goals? Don't tell me that these guys, with obviously very strong legs, don't have 2-3 sessions of 20 minutes a week to also practice field goals (and field goal pickers practicing punts). No they wouldn't turn into great ones, but they could certainly make 33 yards and under ones fairly regularly.
