Bills put him in a bad situation today. That being said I can’t remember a O lineman being that bad ever. At any level I have seen. That being said I think this kid is going to be an absolute stud. A fan favorite in the future. A RT version of Gronk.

Spencer Brown was not ready to play on left tackle he was doing pretty darn good as a right tackle for us with Williams at guard and they should have left it that way and played Bates

I'm not sure about "ready" as being the issue...it's a position he hasn't played before and everything is completely opposite on the other side. Flipping sides is a huge deal, not some minor thing...

I was disappointed in McDermott's "chat" with him as he pulled him from the game.

He should have chewed his ass off, but didn't.

That's not his style. McD is a players coach. These guys aren't in highschool anymore

His job was to calm him down, not fire him up.

Why the heck do you people think that ass-chewings actually work on grown men?

You think he developed that kind of strength and technique playing video games?

That young man has been working his ass off at a full time job for years; damn right he considers himself a grown man.

People that think chewing out men like that is productive are engaging in projection fantasies; I'm glad McDermott is above it.

The simplest answer is just respect and end goal. There’s a lot of HS has-beens on the interwebs that think disrespect is the proper answer to any issues.

At the end of the day, these guys are ago work. This isn’t how you treat coworkers or employees. It shouldn’t be the expected response to somebody you respect.

So much for Brown at LT it seems. Hopefully he is good enough for RT.

I would still most likely draft OT in the first round and move Dawkins to LG. However if a C/G falls in the first round I would take him and play him at guard for a year and keep Morse for another year.

Dawkins gives us the flexibility to take the best OL available with our pick.

This.  Remember Josh Allen getting flagged for "taunting", I think it was the San Francisco game?

McDermott walked up and said "I just came over to tell you, you get another one and you're out of here".  Allen said "Yessir".  McD walked off.

Sometimes the calm voice is heard best.

What evidence do you have that Dawkins can play LG?

Is a 22 year old now considered a grown man?

Certainly if they are old enough to serve in military.  Some mature faster than others.

Honestly, I was a little surprised they moved him over to LT. I figured they might keep Brown in the RT spot he's comfortable at, and move Williams over to LT. Williams is not a great LT by any means, but he's played it before, IIRC.

But who knows, maybe they were a little worried by a Ford-Brown right side, maybe.

Home game so crowd noise was not a factor. Relatively safe game to give him a shot at LT.

Brown, a rookie, played his first game ever at LT in the NFL with about 10 games of experience.  Never played it before and had only a few days to prepare.  It different than RT, a position he has been working at.

He had a rough day playing against top tier competition.  He said in and the post game interview he was learning on the fly.  Learning things like what moves the DE made base on his stance (2 point or 3 point).

We had another tackle that had a terrible day on his first start.  Howard Ballard, who became a pro bowler, was so bad Jim Kelly chewed him out publicly and didn’t want him starting the next week.

Some of you look for perfection on every play and in every circumstance.  It’s never gonna happen.

Brown will go back to RT and will probably end up one our best lineman someday.

Love this guys attitude and the nastiness he plays with. He brings an attitude to the Oline.

He brought pass rushers constantly running past him and 5 penalties too; and one of those penalties was dumb as #%^*.  Optics don’t mean Jack.

I hope Dawkins can play next week and Brown can go back where he belongs for this season anyway.

He really hurt the team this week with his penalties and McD rightfully sat him down for a Bit.

Yeah, he really did.🤦‍♂️ If it weren’t for him, we’d have scored 50 points.. smfh

McDermott, more than any coach I can recall, overtly acknowledges using your emotions is a huge part of playing in the NFL.  He encourages appropriate individual expressions of those emotions.  He appropriately handled the situation.

I keep reading that Brown should never have been put at LT, but wasn’t he the Bills “swing tackle” coming out of preseason? It was not a tough choice. He was obviously not ready, but that’s due to an overestimation of his current ability, IMO.
