Don't we all know why Honest Urb gets hired?

 

The bigger question is why do fans like yourself keep falling so hard for his lies when it was so abundantly clear that you were being played by a guy who stacks up issues wherever he goes and then has to find an out.  

 

He'd have claimed another health issue already but he didn't have enough runway to get that one off the ground this time.    The NFL is a lot quicker at exposing frauds.

Plenty of excellent college HC's have failed in the NFL.........including the greatest ever........Nick Saban.

 

The manner of his firing is irrelevant in the big picture.   

 

Nobody remembers Lou Holtz brief tenure as NY Jets HC.

He basically sketched it out in his presser that week.

 

OK, it's still embarrassing that we failed to see what they were doing on defense and make successful adjustments, but I think the close score (tied 6-6 at halftime) lulled us into a false view that we'd wear them down and come out in the 2nd half. 

 

So OK, you've persuaded me.  We should be highly embarrassed to lose to them.

I think the reason its even more embarrassing is that it appears that Meyer had lost that team even before the Bills game. In fact it may have been that he rubbed so many people the wrong way (LITERALLY) that he may not have EVER had that team on his side at all. I think the Bills losing to the Jags is a testament to the Jags players getting mad at maybe some barely concealed disrespect that the Bills had for the Jags that whole week before the game and playing for each other and not their coach, who it seems like they actively despised. The Bills loss to the Jags is still tough to swallow even if they were facing an angry motivated Jags team because of the talent disparity. The Bills looked sloppy, unprepared and not properly motivated to take care of business and that unfortunately is on McD.

It's almost like the things that make a college HC great, and an NFL head coach great, are totally DIFFERENT.

His legacy was basically being a grade A douchebag everywhere he went.  When you secretly are called "Urban Liar" behind your back by everyone on your staff, I am not sure what type of real legacy you are leaving...

 

Maybe the real legacy he left was one of a con artist who conned the media into thinking one thing while the truth was something else.

The more you learn about this guy, the more interesting a character he becomes, at least from a certain perspective.

 

He reminds me of Lance Armstrong.  Both are colossal sociopaths and liars, but also extremely ambitious and talented in a narrow area.  

 

They both (Armstrong and Meyer) probably missed their real opportunity by not going into politics, where people with this collection of traits are a dime a dozen.
