RichRiderBills Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 (edited) Sorry there's no criticism of Josh here. Blame Daboll. The play was basically designed to go to the flat. The DB did not bite on the deep route. This is what we were doing to substitute for the running game short passes in the first half... it didn't quite work out , sure but Josh was going to that screen the whole time. The notion of him pump faking and seeing the open guy in the mere seconds he had is unlikely. Edited December 15, 2021 by RichRiderBills 1 Quote

JA has no pressure so there is no reason for the dump off other than that was the plan all the way. Sure looks like something they should try again but the problem is Davis doesn't have the speed Sander has. If you try that with Diggs the safety probably rotates over. Davis is fast enough and he blocks down field well. So you may get the corner to bite if JA fakes a pass to the flat first at the same time Davis does a stop and go. I agree here. The play should have been good for a few yards, it's a run sub pass. Later on you run it again on a similar down, but this time targeting the deep route. Set up. Could have been money. I don't mind the concept at all. Just executed off...and good play by DB. Quote

Last year this would be a td for him Quote

Understanding and winning the mental side to maximize his effectiveness. OK, but understand that Brady has about 20 years more experience than Josh. And Brady is freakin' smart. Not that Josh is a dummy, but I don't think I've ever seen a QB like Brady for his football IQ. 1 Quote
Old Coot Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Probably film study by the DB. As far as I can remember when Josh looks to dump off its never a fake so the DB knows that as soon as Josh looks to dump off he can come up on the RB. 1 Quote
Lieutenant Aldo Raine Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Yeah, that's stinks, but you also have to know that Josh keeps getting drilled into his head to take what the defense gives you. So, at the beginning of the game, you can see that's what he is probably thinking. 1 Quote

He threw way too much to the RB's this game when he should be looking deep like he usually does seems uncharacteristic Just watch Teddy Bridgewater for one game and you'll never complain again about how often a QB checks down. reddogblitz Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 (edited) Looked to me like the whole point of the play was to throw that quick pass out to Singletary with room to run. All the other receivers run patterns to the other side of the field. Except Sanders goes long hoping to take the DB with him. Josh drops back and looks right tor a split second and then looks left and hits Singletary. The play only gets 1 yard cuz the DB didn't buy it and came in to make the tackle. We ran several plays like that early on. Edited December 15, 2021 by reddogblitz 2 Quote

He has the defense in a no-win situation. We get a big play either way, with a little vet patience. Maybe a pump fake to make that defender choose. Possibly this is also what we will get when we upgrade the pass blocking. But while JA17 is our qb of the future, he still has room to improve. Quote
