  • BillsMafi$ changed the title to First offensive play of game…

Josh did a nice job of showing the DB where he was going with the ball so he ignored the deep threat and cheated up to go where the ball went.

If Josh sells that better with a head fake, etc., and throws an accurate pass, it's a TD.

Leaving points on the board is part of why you lose close games to good teams.

Ouch.

That's a game changer from the first snap if he recognizes it and makes a good throw. It's almost worth running the same play again in the next game or two and see if its there again.

Why do people here claim sanders is bad

Because our offensive has been bad and he’s new lol

Heads up play by the defender…stayed with the receiver long enough so that josh moved on in his progressions to the correct read and then broke on it early…that’s a potentially big gain for the rb if the db stays with his man

Also is Allen reverting to a checkdown mentality? He threw way too much to the RB's this game when he should be looking deep like he usually does seems uncharacteristic

He was taking what the defense was giving him for a change. These defenses are taking away the big play for the most part so you got to take what they give you

That play to throw to the back may have been scripted just to set up other stuff later.  JA has no pressure so there is no reason for the dump off other than that was the plan all the way.  Sure looks like something they should try again but the problem is Davis doesn't have the speed Sander has.  If you try that with Diggs the safety probably rotates over.  Davis is fast enough and he blocks down field well. So you may get the corner to bite if JA fakes a pass to the flat first at the same time Davis does a stop and go.

This is generally true, but I would also add Allen's faith in his OLine is currently around zero and has been for a very, very long time.

The fact that he is still producing the way he has been while have to keep one eye on his protection at all times is stunning.

Very similar to the last play against the Patriots. It's now a trend that CBs are playing Josh's eyes more than their man when they're still facing the line of scrimmage. Hopefully Josh and Daboll will use this to their advantage and hit a few deep ones.

The DB was staying with Sanders until Josh looked at Singletary, and the DB stopped running with Sanders at that point.  If Josh fakes the throw to Singletary he's got Sanders wide open, uncovered completely for a TD.

100% agree. But Sanders in one on one coverage without safety help is a throw JA should attempt, especially against that secondary.  Sanders likely blows right past that guy in a few more steps

In a perfect world, Josh hits Sanders deep.

But, right now, things are far from perfect on offense for a lot of reasons but the least of those reasons is Josh Allen.

The WR did not get open until after Josh threw the ball. The CB let him go to tackle Singletary.

The CB was never running with Sanders. He takes a couple steps forwards like he expects a short throw and then a couple steps back (maybe in an "oh *****, I read this wrong" moment) before closing on Singletary. At first I thought the CB was cheating toward Singletary based on Josh's eyes, but he was just expecting the dump off the entire time. Sanders blew right by him before Josh even turned to Singletary. There must have been something on film that told the CB where the play was going.

Josh has all the athletic ability in the world, but for whatever reason he has regressed in the mental side of the game this year. He's been way too slow to react to what he should be seeing pre-snap. Way too slow to pull the trigger post-snap. And way too regularly staring down a receiver, resulting in a sack. I wish all of that wasn't true but it just has been.  He's got four weeks left to correct all of that.

This is the last step in his development. This is where Brady beats everyone. Understanding and winning the mental side to maximize his effectiveness.

Don't agree with this, but I didn't like those long sideline "checkdowns" he kept doing to wrs. I get he wants to let the wr make a play, but takes too long to develop
