How about nothing? Artificial noise in stadiums is just annoying. Let the crowd do it.

Best idea I've heard today. Why replace an annoying sound with something else annoying. Let the fans sing Shout after big scores.

The Flintstones, the train hour, and the imagery of buffalo prancing through the snow are drought props.  They all suck.  Replace them with nothing.  Or figure it out later.  But I can’t stand any of them.  Maybe it’s because we heard the stupid train horn all the time on Monday and lost.  I don’t know.  Whatever.  I can’t deal with any of them.

Have you heard other stadiums...I think SoFi.....PA guy yelling 3rrrrrrrrrrrrrd Dooooooooown

Yes I have. I was at the Saints game. It was the only thing I didn't enjoy. Really annoying to have speakers blasting nonsense into my ears all night.

I hate when I see other stadiums have to teach fans “lamo, GET LOUD”

Indy, they had no idea when to cheer

…charging Buffalo sound….

our fans don’t need the stupid NOISE sign!  Errr wait, nights need drunk wake-up calls…Big Alarm clock?

how about every time the Bills run D gets gashed, or Moss runs into the back of the OL for 1 yard, they play a giant fart sound on the PA.  Like 120db of sloppy wet fart.  If they Bills have any pride or dignity they'll play harder just to make it stop.  this is a copyrighted idea so i better not see any of you stealing it.

I said this last year, but call it a “Factory Whistle/Horn” that Bethlehem Steel and other factories used in the old days in Buffalo. When the factory whistle blew it meant “Time to go to work”.

I see nothing wrong with rawrrrrrrrrrrrr...thats how the sound translates to me. And there are trains that run all through NYS I think it fits into the wny vibe.

That’s a proper assessment of the last twenty years. I’d love statistics of what franchises have given up the most 60+ yard runs over the past few decades. Long runs seem like a very rare feat these days, yet they occur quite a bit against Bills teams, particularly at home games.

At least three come to mind just this season, Henry, Taylor, Harris..

I haven't been to the stadium in decades, so don't know what the train horns bring to the "in stadium" experience, but I can say that they are ridiculous to hear on the TV broadcasts.

They are so loud during some games, that they drown out what the announcers are saying.  (I specifically noticed during this years Pittsburgh game that the production staff adjusted the volume each time that stupid thing blasted away.)

After all these years of losing, the sound of these horns basically trigger a PTSD type feeling of dread in me.  Seriously.  I've actually had to mute the sound of some of our defense series.

If Bills fans are truly the best fans in the NFL, we shouldn't need these horns in the first place.  Surely the crowd knows when the key plays of the game are happening, and I certainly know that the fans can rock that stadium without gimmicky train horns.

Get rid of them and let the fans own cheering speak for itself.

I’m with the nothing crowd. I don’t like over thinking things, but I’ve never understood what the stupid horn is supposed to represent. It might be cool if it tied to Buffalo as a city somehow. The train horn means nothing, and it’s even obnoxious on tv. It becomes more annoying when getting blown out at home, and they still do the horn on third down.

Almost as obnoxious as playing the shout song after a garbage time score in a blowout loss. Embarrassing

Obviously all Buffalo’s struggles can be attributed to the 3rd down train horn.

Many have voiced displeasure with the train horn, but I recall few suggesting what should be done/played on 3rd down instead.

Thundering herd of Buffalo buffalo?

Something similar to the Sabres goal horn?

Just play the Wilhelm Scream on a loop?

Any favorite 3rd down noises / approaches from around the league, college football, or other sports? For example, at Notre Dame the students take out their keys and shake them to make noise on 3rd down.

I think something that reflects the fan base and region would be ideal. Interested to hear your thoughts!

(Hate to feel like I have to give a disclaimer, but yes I am aware there is a 2019 thread about this. Figured 2 years is long enough.)

MORE train horn.

Every defensive down.

The crowd needs all the prodding that they can get.

I sit near the top of the lower bowl and even though everyone stands,   most of them make zero noise.

The place is at about 25% noise capacity this season.
