Ian Rappaport is reporting it (3) Ian Rapoport on Twitter: "The 2022 NFL Salary Cap is expected to reach the max of $208.2M — which means spending should be back. Estro Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 (edited) These huge Cap jumps are going to favor the better teams in my opinion. If a really crappy team had $80M in cap space and offers player A $18M per year & A good team has $45M in cap space and offers same player A $16M per year I'd imagine a lot of FA will pick the better team. Long way of saying when most teams are flush with cash its going to be tough for crappy teams to outbid the good ones. Edited December 5, 2021 by Estro 3 Quote
cwater10 Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 It logically follows that this will also allow more teams to retain pending free agents and keep them off the market. Either way, this should make free agency way more interesting than last year. 1 1 Quote

billybrew1 Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 The Bills better have an outstanding plan of building a real NFL O-Line with a real NFL RB. Thats just the beginning. We need a second TE as well. One that can block well and catch well. IDK if Sweeney can be a third TE so they should draft one to compete with Sweeney perhaps. Lastly, a truly big and fast NFL receiver for Josh would finish the spring shopping. Why can't Josh have a huge target like everyone else seems to have? We could run better with bigger receivers as well. So, a couple O-L but very good ones is key. A RB, a TE and a WR.... Now for the defense..... If Ed keeps playing we are going to have to activate his fifth year option. I don't know how the Bills feel about Star now so I'm not sure if he'll get an offer but when he played, he was clearly our best DT. One that can slow down a run game. Even if we sign him we have to add a DT high in the draft, if we let go of Star, we have to replace him separately because we are a DT down right now. Some might say we're down two. It might be time to replace Klein with a similar smart LB that is younger. We need a good CB to hold the fort at CB and provide better depth than we ever had. The proof should be in the pudding at DE. We have spent most our resources in the past two years drafting DEs. They should be hitting their primes next season and letting go of Hughes and Addison would give us the cash to rebuild the offense the right way (I'm all for clearing the house at RB, get all new ones imho....if I kept anyone it would be Singletary in a backup role.) So at end we go with Epenesa, Groot and Basham and draft another or get a sneaky good one in FA to give us four for the year. Keep Star and Ed and draft a DT high and low to give us four. Maybe Zimmer can come back for camp. Maybe Harry could be our fourth DT? (No higher....) IDK? The way we are playing this year you could look at bringing in many new coaches.... I know our DL coach was a good DC but what has he done so far in Buffalo? I loved Daboll in 2020, but it know becomes clear we built a pass only offense kind of on purpose and that's just plain dumb. I liked both Moss and Singletary better as rookies, really look hard at our RB coach. What the hell happened to our OTs? Cody Ford? Really gotta think long and hard about our OL coach as well. Maybe bring in a hard-nosed OC that can build a tough OL. Let him higher his coaches.... Note: It ain't all the coach's fault that is for sure as we are weak at OL, TE, RB, DT, CB & KR.... (yes, Knox is good but you're supposed to have three not one....Why can't we have two at least?) I'd like to see Allen running the Colts offense or even a better offense with better receivers....I admire that Colt line though that is for sure....and that run game of course.... The Bills are on the outside looking in right now with fan Billief declining heading into an all-important game at the Ralph. I sure hope we are ready.... Quote

And this is where agents come in and tell the player you're better off going to a crappy team for more money. These guys don't realize most of the time that you can do the same with 16m that you can do with 18m. Quote

Yeah could really help the Bills do some work they couldn't get done last winter. Might be able to compete for a G like Laken Tomlinson and pursue a finishing pass rusher or FA or trade for one like Khalil Mack etc.. 2 Quote
Process Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 This is great and all but Beane needs to do a much better job of using the cap for it to matter. A few elite players is a lot better than 20 average ones. We've given way too much much money to way too many very average players since he's been here. 2 1 1 1 Quote

Maybe we let Klein go to save another $5m. That would give us $15m to work with... could be enough for one splash player. 1 Quote
