The first American-made F-16 fighter jets committed to Ukraine are being transferred and are expected to take to the skies this summer, U.S. and European officials announced Wednesday, saying the advanced warplanes soon will provide another tool for Kyiv’s beleaguered defense in the face of relentless Russian attacks.

An unspecified number of aircraft are en route from the Netherlands and Denmark, the nations’ leaders said in a joint statement with President Biden. The statement noted that the governments of Belgium and Norway have committed to donate others.

Ukraine is expected to field 60 F-16s eventually, officials have said, with a host of nations banding together to provide pilot training, weapons and logistical support.

A separate statement circulated by the White House on behalf of Washington and Berlin said that, in 2026, the Pentagon would begin rotating powerful missile systems through Germany. These “episodic deployments” are to include some hypersonic weapons that officials characterized as having “significantly longer range” than any hardware currently in Europe.

Every time Zelensky comes calling for more support, this time as a guest to the NATO summit, the Russian oblige by hitting a hospital or school. The timing is an amazing coincidence.

Maybe you should put your thinking cap on and dig past the surface of the story? Understand the motives of the involved parties such as why would anyone target a hospital which has no strategic value but will surely enrage everyone? There's no upside to it. And who is telling you this? No independent press is allowed to publish stories there. So you just have to believe a government that has suspended all democracy, including that free press. You might want to be a bit more skeptical but your unwavering support for this war effort prohibits you from any objective assessments. That's all I'm saying.

Yup, MAGA might get its monster back in charge, and the gleeful squeals of laughter they will have as more innocents are killed will be unrestrained. MAGA is murder

What’s different this time is that Putin has good reason to think U.S. policy toward Ukraine might soon change, if former president Donald Trump wins the November election. The day before the NATO summit commenced, Putin bombed the main children’s hospital in Kyiv, part of a series of strikes that killed 43 people and injured some 200 others. This was a signal to all the NATO countries that Putin has no intention of negotiating until then, Zelensky said.

“Americans are waiting for November,” Zelensky said. “And Putin awaits November, too, killing and destroying, to be ready for whatever November might bring.”

Any idea how many innocents have been killed with Biden “in charge”? Seems like a lot. It would be good data to have so that comparisons can be drawn.

Right, because if Putin took over and enslaved the entire population then things would be better

There will be fewer deaths when Trump takes over.  There would have been none if Trump had been President the last 4 years.

Didn't Vance actually fight in a war?

Vance was a Marine Corps journalist/correspondent. He was deployed to Iraq, basically as an in-house reporter, for I think 6 months.

So yes, he was in an active war theater, much like Al Gore's service in the Vietnam era.

I'm not in any way belittling his service - he was obviously bright and worked his way into that assignment - but I'm not sure it's accurate to say he fought in a war.

None.

But what did I say that was wrong?

Vance enlisted in the Marine Corps, served honorably including in Iraq, but there is no indication that he "fought in a war." If I'm wrong, well, please point to something that corrects me.
