Let me get this straight: you're comparing a laundry list of American and NATO interventions with Putin's constant land grabs from his neighbors like he's just a misunderstood guy trying to expand his backyard? Nice try, but one’s about spreading democracy, and the other’s about spreading oppression. Let’s not mix up the motives.

Yes I am. Seizing Hawaii for example, without a vote by native residents is a land grab. If not, what would you call it? Guam, Somoa, etc.

And your excuse is spreading democracy. I assume whether or not you were invited or whether or not they want your form of democracy.

If you think there"s some huge disparity between what we do and they do I believe the term is believing your own BS.

So what concession did Trump get from Putin for giving up this leverage?

Putin secretly told him Kellogg is kool. Something like that.

Oh, so we're digging all the way back to 125+ years ago to find the last time the US did something remotely similar to what Russia is still doing today? Nice! That's like bringing up medieval battles to justify modern-day wars.

I guess if we keep reaching back far enough, maybe we can justify anything, right? Cool logic!

I'm not justifying anything. I'm pointing out the fallacy of the good vs evil argument many posters rely on when the reality of life is things are not so black and white.

But a more recent example for our country would be the invasion of Iraq. Under false pretense. No WMD, no link to 9/11. Bush and his henchmen fabricated the justification and all the "patriots" on both sides of the isle fell in line and went along with the charade. The removal of Hussain was a strategic disaster for the Middle East. It removed Iran's natural enemy from the game board. And left us with today's mess. How is this so different from what Putin did? After all, many on the left considered Bush and Chaney as war criminals as s result of displacing and killing 100's of thousands of civilians. Until they lined up against Trump and turned into heroes.

It’s interesting you bring up Iraq. Yes, the Bush administration was criticized and rightly so. But this doesn’t suddenly make Putin’s war “okay” or morally equivalent.

And yes, you are justifying Putin's actions - and it doesn't make them any less heinous.

According to the latest from Bloomberg:

  • Vladimir Putin is demanding a suspension of all weapons deliveries to Ukraine during any ceasefire, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
  • Ahead of his call with Trump today, Putin has made this a prerequisite for Russia signing up to a truce, said a senior European official and three people in Moscow familiar with Russia’s position.
  • While Russia wants to halt all arms deliveries, its minimum aim is that US military aid should stop, two of the people said.
  • The senior European official said Europe was extremely reluctant to agree to the demand. It would risk a situation where Russia was able to rearm during a truce but Ukraine was prevented from doing so, they said.
  • It is the latest example of maximalist demands made by Putin which will be very difficult for Ukraine and Europe to accept.
  • The UK and EU are both working on efforts to deliver fresh military aid packages to Ukraine as soon as possible.
  • The suspension of arms supplies sought by Putin would be lifted after a final peace accord so long as Ukraine agreed to limits on its army, one person in Moscow said.

No one should be surprised that the Democrat Party is in favor of thousands of young men dying needlessly in battle between Russia and Ukraine if it prevents President Donald Trump from getting positive press. Michael McFaul laid it all out on MSNBC on Monday.

They did agree not to bomb each other's power infrastructure for 30 days, so the negotiations weren't totally pointless.

No but bombing hospitals is still fair game, smdh

hours after the agreement, the russians bombed a power plan.  How is that progress.  Even Fox reported it but not in the headline.  Zelenskyy also refuted trump's claim of encircled Ukrainian troops.  trump is weak and plays Putins lap dog

Wall Street Journal chief foreign affairs correspondent Yaroslav Trofimov reported not even an hour after the Kremlin made the announcement that a Russia-guided bomb took out the power in the Ukrainian city of Slovyansk.

Air raid sirens were also heard throughout the country as drones flew in the skies over a handful of cities, including Kyiv, Sumy and Kharkiv.
