The West’s Green Delusions Empowered Putin

While we banned plastic straws, Russia drilled and doubled nuclear energy production.....

.....But it was the West’s focus on healing the planet with “soft energy” renewables, and moving away from natural gas and nuclear, that allowed Putin to gain a stranglehold over Europe’s energy supply.

As the West fell into a hypnotic trance about healing its relationship with nature, averting climate apocalypse and worshiping a teenager named Greta, Vladimir Putin made his moves.

While he expanded nuclear energy at home so Russia could export its precious oil and gas to Europe, Western governments spent their time and energy obsessing over “carbon footprints,” a term created by an advertising firm working for British Petroleum. They banned plastic straws because of a 9-year-old Canadian child’s science homework. They paid for hours of “climate anxiety” therapy....

Spot freaking on.

Why Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons — and what that means in an invasion by Russia

Thousands of nuclear arms had been left on Ukrainian soil by Moscow after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. But in the years that followed, Ukraine made the decision to completely denuclearize.

In exchange, the U.S., the U.K. and Russia would guarantee Ukraine's security in a 1994 agreement known as the Budapest Memorandum.

So much for that agreement . If they still had those nuclear weapons they are a big deterrent , never want to see them used.

Our former commander in chief. So much stupidity in this post that it’s hard to parse.

If I paint the word Prius on my Wrangler, maybe I will fool Jacques Cousteau into thinking it’s a submarine?

Context.  Here's how we make something out of nothing.  At the time 15 years ago, Trump was a private citizen seeking to do business in Russia.  Lots of businesses from Microsoft to McDonalds were courting the Russian government seeking opportunities in that "market".  If you want to suggest Trump is acting inappropriately, should we also then question the motives and loyalties of the executives and representatives of all Western individuals and companies making such overtures at the time?  There's nothing extraordinarily odd or unique with Trump's actions from the time.

And while we're at it, maybe Time magazine should be criticized first?

What about calling Putin a genius for invading Ukraine?

Think about that given the context that the U.S. and all the other western governments and NATO officials that made lots of promises and threats while claiming to support the people of Ukraine have not lifted a finger to stop him.  What are they waiting for?

So you think Putin is a genius too?

So invading a country, killing at least thousands of innocents, driving millions from their homes, this whole sh it show is genius?

Really, are you without a shred of human decency?

Being a genius doesn’t mean you’re not a monster.  Plenty of serial killers have high iqs. Is Putin a piece of *****? Yes. Is he smart for taking advantage of the current administration? Yes.

I said or implied nothing of the sort.  But you're going to attack mode already?  Attacking my character which implies your argument has no validity.

For simply pointing out that western countries that urged Zelensky and his country to take a more aggressive posture with Russia abandoned him when hostilities broke out and hung him out to dry?  I'm just the messenger here.  But that's exactly what happened.  Maybe your anger should be directed at those weak governments who made lots of promises and threats but all they're doing is urging the Ukrainians to fight the good fight on their own?

Isn’t it interesting how Tibs gives a complete free pass to all the world leaders that are ACTUALLY in charge right now to instead focus on a private citizen who has neither power or authority? Lots of deflection going on here. Good thing the American people aren’t even close to buying it. Great job Joe!

NATO countries should send their old Soviet military jets to Poland for Ukrainian pilots to fly to Ukraine. If Russia protests site

Let's remember that Ukraine was a poor post soviet country at the time. People were afraid those weapons would be sold. But ya, we should of done more to live up to that agreement

It was a typical stupid trump diarrhea of the mouth trump statement that he can never help himself from.

But realize the media did do their thing to amplify it in a vastly different Context, naturally.

the specific quote was suggesting it was an ingenuous move to recognize the two break away republics as sovereign states in need of defense as an excuse to invade them. Then sarcastically mocked Putins ‘peace keeping’ forces. He was taking a shot at the administration that kicked his arse to the curb.

Ukraine claims 11,000 Russian killed, which is almost certainly a high number. But Even if it's half that, 5,500, the number of casualties would probably be three times that. That's just for ten days. How long can Russian sustain those losses?

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukraine-says-over-11000-russian-troops-killed-war-2022-03-06/

It looks like Russia is surrounding the cities to starve out the defenders.

The clock of war is ticking for both sides

No, he likes or is compromised by Putin. Trump's probably done
