Simply aerodynamically false.

Any structure effects wind.

Being below grade means nothing.

It is simply the shape of the building as it relates to the direction/velocity of the wind.

And what is the shape of the building in relation to the wind off the lake? Do the upper decks block the wind coming off Lake Erie, or are the endzones open to wind?

I would think Josh’s 40 yard lasers would be superior in this type of weather, especially compared to noodle arm Mac.

Any structure always blocks wind, unless it's a tornado.

That is not to say it won't be a factor.

Winds coming over a structure will be deflected down to some degree, and when they get in a confined space will swirl.

 

The structure doesn't have any "open end zones."

It has a minor tunnel that is enclosed.

 

The wind forecast for this evening's game are locked solid from the west. Not from the lake.

The stadium is oriented northwest-southeast.

The winds will be perpendicular to the structure, but will change a bit throughout the game as the low moves further east.

if you've ever been to a windy game at the stadium you would know that's not true. It will have a big effect on the game

I love how people are simultaneously saying mac jones has been terrific and the pats don’t rely on passing the ball at all haha seems a little hypocritical to me 😂

Just checked the local Orchard Park forecast … and it appears the UV index will not be a significant factor in this game .. this is huge as it keeps the big floppy hat off McD’s head and out of his eyes so he can see more clearly …

had seasons since 04, I know how windy it is. I'm just saying what Hammer said. I can't compare to what a fully above ground stadium would be here instead of what we have because it doesnt exist.

It's funny that this season people are going nuts over the nasty lake erie winds/precip.  Last season it was Cleveland that had a bunch of crappy weather games while the Bills skated by with road games those weeks or a bye.

I don’t think it’s funny.  I think it sucks.  Big time. We’re watching an inferior product when the wind affects the passing game.  Luckily for cleveland last year, they just pounded the rock 24/7.  We pass the rock 24/7.  Into the wind.

Pretty crazy.  Thanks for posting.  Further evidence of why we should have a roof on a new stadium.  We enjoy the game of football being played at its highest level.  Average 16mph winds prevents teams from playing at their highest level.  Facts.  Fail

Our average wind is 16.1 mph.  The 3rd highest is 10.1.  That’s just ridiculous.  More proof.

I’m on record for being happy as long as the team is still playing home games in WNY. PERIOD.

 

Having said that, there are several reasons I try to get to the opener vs a December game. Weather is pretty high on that list. I’ve done it for decades, and I’m just getting to an age where windy days with temps in the 30’s and sheets of rain does not really sound like fun to me anymore. (I’d prefer 20 and snow.) Call me a wimp, tell me I’m not a true fan, whatever. I just have enough sense to avoid unpleasant experiences.

 

You do you, I’ll do me.  I’d like to get back to WNY in the winter, but not if it means sitting outside for hours and hours in miserable conditions. If I lived there, I’d invest in the proper gear for marginal days, and be wary of “worst case” days. 

 

It was actually kind of fun and exciting as a kid, but I’m no kid anymore. Not ancient, but old enough to make my own choices on how to best enjoy a game.
