FilthyBeast Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Jauron was like McDermott in a lot of ways especially with his defensive philosophy but could never solve the QB riddle just like every coach that was here going back to the last the franchise made the playoffs with Wade Phillips/Flutie. Amazing how fast time flies by though, seems like just yesterday he was on the sideliness looking like a lifeless corpse with a pathetic clap. Quote

947 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 (edited) Living in the Chicago area, seeing the Bears & local news, I already knew how utterly horrendous of a hire Jauron would be. I vividly remember hearing the bills were going to interview him, and my heart sank into my stomach. To ease the pain, I told myself that there's no way they'd actually hire him, but I somehow knew deep inside that it was going to happen. I just knew, it was exactly the type of thing Ralph would do. The hiring process was like watching a train wreck, knowing there'd be no survivors. Edited November 17, 2021 by 947 Quote

I made that same drive this past summer. Never knew he lived there. It's very close to the interstate, but I guess that would be convenient for getting from Lake Forest downtown to Soldier Field. He was fired a week later I remember it pretty clearly. It was after the most disgusting game of professional football I've ever witnessed. The 6-3 embarrassing loss to the Browns. I looked over to my best friend who's also a fan and said, if he doesn't get fired after this I have no hope for this franchise. Quote

He was fine. He had very little control over the roster and hit homeruns when he was allowed to make picks. He begged Marv Levy to draft Kyle Williams in the 4th round but Marv drafted Ko Simpson instead. When Kyle was still there in the 5th, Marv listened and drafted Kyle Williams. Jauron was a good coach, but got stuck with a less than optimal roster due to the GM. Quote

Beach Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 i have a 12 year old fb memory today that reads: "goodbye dick!" i would have had no idea what that was about without this post. Thanks OP! 1 Quote
BillsVet Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Jauron was a symptom of the overall organizational problems plaguing Buffalo in those days. At first I was glad they ended his tenure, but the 2010-2013 seasons revealed nothing had really changed above the HC level. It was still a franchise run by people who were looking out for the owner and reducing costs. Thank goodness those days are over. 1 Quote
